Thanks Glen, I have been spending an hour trying to keep my black rims clean per week. Looking forward to finding a better solution.

Excellent! I'm already using the Sonax and brushes on my '13 GS's chrome wheels, but now I'm gonna get my hands on the other two items and utilize your technique. Thanks so much, Glen!

Glen strikes again. Thanks for the great advice and tutorial! I am so excited about how clean my wheels and calipers are now. I wish I would have taken a before picture, but here is my first attempt at the finished product:

Hi Glen, thanks for the great info. I use Iron X for my wheels, is Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus a better bet or safer? Iron X seems really good but always looking for something better.

I have used Adam's makes a great wheel cleaner that reacts the same way, mist on, use a paint brush it turns redder as the iron contact from the brakes, and go around and brush into nooks and crannies, then hose off, I like Glen's advice on the tire gel....also use Adam's tire cleaner....I don't work for Adam's but they make good stuff at a fair price....my $,02

I've been using Klasse products for years on my German cars. They make an All in One Polish/Wax that can be followed with their Sealant. What polish have you guys found works well as the step before using the Hydro2 sealant? I am assuming you want a polish that does not leave any wax or polymer on the paint before the Hydro2 is applied.

any fine finishing polish will do, not an all in one like the Klasse, you want a pure polish. Every mfr has one....ask your mfr you like. A great one avail locally is Meguire's 205.\

Thanks. Would it be appropriate to polish a brand new car immediate after delivery? Do they have any wax on them from the factory?

and a word about hydro2: because it is so easy, it's my opinion that this should be a topper, not your main sealant. Many will use it that way, but I would use it as a maintenance program, meaning bi monthly, instead of replacing a main sealant like Blackfire wet diamond, adams machine sealant etc, that go on and have to be buffed off. They are definitely a thicker sealant coating. It's why I only use it on my wheels to take advantage of getting it into the crannies. For my paint, I have a whole diff regimen.

Default Alternative for Ceramic Brakes

Glen,

I am going to replace the OEM brake pads on my 427 Vert with Hawk Ceramics, in order to reduce brake dust.

Is there an alternate sealer for ceramic brakes?

Thanks

update: I'm finding I hydro2 about every 5-6 weeks, but it's a base car that does not dust, and I'm in Florida good weather...z51's may need it more. I really notice that the nooks and crannies of the caliper don't hold dirt like they used to, that's worth it right there...also, I'm doing 4-5 spritzes per wheel with a special one shot spritz on the caliper...

after you dilute it (mandatory) , the bottle will last about 6-8 months at this pace.....
