Without reading through 281 posts has anyone actually have the grid fall in the tank and have to have the tank dropped?

Seems I remember a thread where someone here took theirs in for the recall and while theirs hadn't fell, the service tech told them he had fixed one that had fell. You can bet GM didn't issue the recall for fun. There's probably less than 1% of C7 owners on this forum. So far mine's not on the list but it's a very late build (July 2014, 35000 vin) and GM may be issuing the recalls oldest first and not all at once.

Just went out to my car and put a funnel down the filler hose and then I shined a flashlight down the tank and saw the grid . Hopefully a 1 1/2 job at the most !

I removed the grid from the part I took out, and found that the grid has to be square with the opening or it will not pass through it. That is, if the grid come loose and turns on an angle, it will not come out of the fuel inlet tube.

Recall
I would like to know if anyone has actually had the recall done on there car. I have been waiting over a month for the part to come in. Is it taking that long to get the recall part into dealers.

Had mine done yesterday. Took dealer 2 days to get the part. Not sure why it's over a month to get your part.

Had mine done last Monday...first one the dealership did and they ordered the part in advance so it would be there when I came in...waited about 2hrs total to get the job done...

There is also a recall on the windshield washer reservoir that might leak. Had both done last week. My screen didn't shift but they replaced both. 2 1/2 hours.

I had the recall accomplished yesterday. The work took about one hour. Only thing, the wheel well blanket material was distressed and wouldn't remain up in place (probably technician needed additional access and distorted blanket). The material was actually hanging down below the wheel well opening about a 1/4 inch. Discovered last evening when I looked to see how procedure was accomplished. I decided to put a small piece of black calking seal material behind the blanket and it now remains up where it belongs. Hopefully no further problems with it?

22519 here. Built 4-14. Got the letter, brought car in and it was pronounced OK thankfully as the service tech advised if it had dropped into the tank they would give me a car to drive for a day or so. Read the paper, drank some of the dealers expresso and was sent on my way in less than an hour.
