Default Musuem Delivery Costs

Is the NCM delivery price of $995 in addition to the destination charge of $995.00?

Don't forget to add in air fare, lodging, rental car, food, and entertainment. Gas on the way home.

I was into it for about $3000 including the delivery.

Worth every penny.

Thanks for the replies. I had thought the NCM was an extra charge but wasn't 100% sure.

Just as memorable as getting married and birth of my 3 daughters (but obviously not as important).

Even my wife, who is definitely not into cars, enjoyed the whole day.

Getting back to your original question. This puzzled me too. I can see a $995 charge if the car has to be shipped to a dealership but...

Bottom line. Yes, you pay the Destination Charge of $995 for GM to drive your car off the assembly line, through the building to the Museum so you can pick it up. And yes, you get to pay another $995 for the NCM Delivery/Special Tour.

Best I can tell, when picking up the car at the factory the destination charge is just another fun tax you get to pay.

Federal law requires a flat rate destination charge whether the car is going to a dealer in Bowling Green or one in LA. The car is also not driven over from the factory, they come over on a transport just like the Corvettes delivered to the Bowling Green Chevy dealer. The museum fee pays for all the costs involved in managing the delivery process including a dedicated PDI staff. The profits go to supporting the museum so it's both a great service and a great cause.

There's a law I can live without.

If you rent a car instead of fly, National used to do one way rentals. The BG office will even take you to NCM after you drop off the rental.

It was cheaper to do a one way rental from Va. Than it was to fly. Factory tour in the morning returned the rental at lunch...explained to them what I was up to - they drove me to NCM.

Museum delivery fee, airline tickets for two, hotels, rental car, a week of gas at 32 mpg....total cost? Who cares. Priceless memories I'll never forget and likely never repeat.

Corvette buyers on the east coast are perfectly fine with this law.

I agree, better yet if you can swing the time of the second trip and do "Buyers Build Tour", it's really priceless.
