Default Install Z06 Grill

OK there's no way Im even gonna attempt it.. way over my head and comfort level. Do you guys recommend bringing to a dealer to install or you think a body shop is ok?

What state do you live in? I'd swap it out for you.

I imagine that most body shops have not seen a Corvette yet. You're best bet would be to take it to the dealership as they are more familiar with the car.

Yeah, we're not close. I'm down here in TX.

I understand that you are not comfortable with the procedure. I wasn't either until I removed the first few screws. Just follow Jag's video and things should go well for the most part. You will hit a snag or two and eventually get past it. Worst case scenario, take it to the dealership and pay them to do it. Best case scenario, do it yourself and save some money and also get to know your car well.

It's not rocket science. Just follow the video. All that is involved is taking out several screws, pulling some clips loose, and presto you have a new grill. So many have done this that I'm sure there is someone near you has completed it and would be glad to help.

I just did it and none of it is complicated or particularly difficult. I was concerned about lining up the flexible bumper cover on the re-install, but it lined right up.

It was quite easy to do. The members here have given me so much confidence in doing this stuff myself, videos help too.

I'm not really that mechanical and I was able to do it. All you really need to do is turn some screws and have some patience. Was a great project I did with my 11 yr old daughter. You can do it!!!

Most of the install was easy except for the black clip bracket with the two bolts next to the headlight. The reinstall is fine if you install the clip bracket in the exact same location, so your panels line up. If not, you have to remove the bumper all over again. Ask me how I know ...

Your photos clearly show the two tabs that are the hardest to pry up just inside the headlights.

That seems to be the biggest difficulty in the process.

I am hoping I can use a plastic trim tool to help pull them out if they are tight.

How easy was your "pull" ?

At first I had to go back to Jag's video for a second look. As it turns out I was pulling outward when I needed to pull upward near the head lamp. Once I figured that out it came right off.

Firm grip near the headlight and pull up. I also had loosened up before the inner fender (3 bolts) and pulled at the nose outwards BEFORE pulling up near the headlamp.

Thanks for the info.

My car is in storage, waiting for it to warm up enough to do the grill swap.

Thanks to Gene Culley for my Z06 grill.

Perhaps we could try it together if you wanted, once the weather breaks...don't think I'd take any $$ though...

I could have done it, but I really didn't want to. It was worth paying the dealer couple hundred bucks to do it. It would have probably taken me 3-4 hours, and I figured the money would be well spent. I know some guys do it in 2 hours or so, but oh well. I'm glad I had someone else do it. they charge about 1.5 to 2 hours of labor for it.

The install video is pretty detailed and should provide you with a good guide. However, if you're not comfortable, take it to the dealer and let them do it.
