Default Stupid question from a guy in the grocery store parking lot.

I was having an issue opening my trunk with the key fob and this guy came over and asked if it was an old Corvette or a new one - uhh 2015. How could someone that even knows what a Corvette looks like think this car is an old Vette?

I have a cyber gray 2011 Grand Sport coupe. A very high percentage of people who approach me to ask about my beauty ask if it one of the new Corvettes. It seems it cuts both ways. You and I and members of the CF are so aware of our cars that assume others are too.

Janice, if that's the worst question you get, you're lucky!!!

We can't expect everyone to be as into these cars as we are......

At least you're getting to drive your C7! I haven't seen mine in a month.....

I'm married so no it didn't work. I guess I didn't think of it that way. If I was single and he was cute it would have been a conversation starter. I was more irritated that my trunk wouldn't open.

I have no idea - it looks so different from the C6. I guess I take for granted how much I do know about my car and that things aren't obvious to people that don't keep up with new cars.

A few weeks ago a different guy was looking at it in the same grocery store lot and said that was the first one he'd seen.

I wouldn't worry about it. I bet your trunk would have opened right up if he was more your type.

I think the moral of this story is: Can't we be friendly to people who approach us with these gorgeous cars?

Stupid question perhaps but I'm sure he didn't have any issues getting his trunk open.

I had something similar happen to me yesterday. I picked up someone yesterday who had to attend the same meeting I did, so we rode together. Of course I wanted to drive my C7 coupe. After getting in the car and driving for about 30 minutes, the guy looked at me and asked, "What kind of car is this?" Now I have to admit he is a little bit old, but you have to be from under some rock to ask such a silly question. I was patient and just said, "A Corvette."
