Default Infotainment system screen flickers when I honk the horn

The original infotainment system was replaced as a result of the well documented screen flickering on early 2014 Stingrays. The current unit has served me well until recently. Now, every time I honk the horn, the screen flickers once. It's at the dealership now and will be further diagnosed tomorrow to see if GM wants to replace the unit or if there is another fix. My 2014 was in recently for an operating system update that was a lengthy four hour process. Could a glitch be the cause? If you are a 2014 owner and have recently had a major operating system update, if you think about it, please see if your infotainment system screen flickers when you honk the horn. Thanks!

It's strange that it's a reflash issue, seems like it would be drawing power from someplace. But everyone else has just done the flash or replacement and it works.

I was just throwing out the information about the reflash since I noticed the problem after that. Thanks for the input.

Jeremy, youve had a lot of interior mods, any sqeeks or rattles, that could be pinched connectors or harneses?

Anything is possible...but no squeaks or rattles at all. It only flashes when I honk the horn. My Stingray has been special since birth!

Could be the loose nut behind the wheel....just kidding....

I hope you get it sorted out. Let us know what the resolution is. Mine is a fairly early 2014 (vin12206) and my screen had a split display only once and it hasn't occurred since. I probably should bring it back at some point but I'm sure the dealer would want me to show them the problem despite the fact that it only occurred once so far.

Could be! But seriously, I've had almost zero problems out of every other Corvette I have or currently own. This one has made up for them all...but I love her!

My C6 was problem free except for the squeaky brakes. My C7 had a minor oil leak but was fixed by replacing the valve cover gasket. Other than that all 3 of my Corvettes, including my 1969, were really good cars.

I was talking to my buddy the other day--he owns a C6--and I said..."there is no other car on the market that interests me other than the Corvette"....

Let me know how you make out with the current issue. I probably should bring mine in for a software update just in case.

I got my flickering screen fixed as well. But I haven't noticed it doing anything when I honk the horn. But then the few times I have had to honk the horn I am busy avoiding the idiot that caused me to need to honk and don't have time to look at the screen... I bet I have needed to use the horn only 2-3 times in the 13 months I've had the car. How often do you use the horn?

Have you tried just making a 'honk honk' sound?

Seriously - sounds to me like either a grounding or power draw issue if it only happens while honking the horn.

Thanks for all of the replies. As for how often I honk...I was tempted to say, "only when I'm horny." I do have a habit of testing my horns though from time to time. You don't know when you'll need it. The horn on my '64 is currently non-functional, so I've had to yell out the window and yell "honk honk" a few times while driving her.

I don't use mine much but probably about once a week I need it as I'm moving down rows of park cars in a parking lot and I've got my hand on the horn pad waiting for a oldster to reverse/pull out of their spot without looking at all....happens all the time down here in oldster-land....(Boca Raton!)

UPDATE

The dealership is going to replace the infotainment system under warranty. They received word from GM that this problem has occurred in ONE other case and that's it. Of course, mine would be just one of two reported cases. LOL
