Default What should I do????

I want to buy a 2015 Z51 black conv with kalahari and black top with magnetic ride and nav. My dealer can not locate one to my specs. He said I could order one buy 3/28. My other choice is to wait and order a 2016. Is the 2016 going to have additional stuff to make it worthwhile? Also increased price for a 2016 and increased interest rates could come into play. Should I order now or wait?

I'd wait. In a few weeks, we will all know the particulars of the 2016. Additional cost and chance of interest rate increase vs. 1 model year additional depreciation should be a trade-off in your favor.

Kind of boils down to cost, is your dealer giving you a significant discount. You may not be able to get as good a deal on a 2016.

If your dealer is trying to locate one for you, 1) he doesn't have any allocations and 2) you are probably not going to get supplier pricing. My guess is 2016 might be more of the same with this dealer-make him prove he has allocations if you order from him. If not, go to one of the forum dealers with allocations and the best pricing.

I was in a similar situation. I went ahead and placed my order for a 2015 with Mike at Criswell. He had allocations.
My order was immediately accepted. My vehicle was immediately picked up by production control. Waiting for TPW now.

Only you can decided how long you want to wait for a new Corvette.

Keep in mind that if you wait to see what the changes will be for the 2016 models:
  • By the time we know what those changes are going to be it will be too late to order a 2015 model.
  • You can be nearly 100% assured that you'll pay more for a 2016 than you will for a 2015.
Just some food for thought.

I'd have to agree with Mike "mpuzach" above because that's just the way it is. If I were the OP and you really want A) a 2015, and B) maybe a better price than on a '16, you had better sit down and start calling or checking the websites of various Forum dealers. Again, just me: I'd call. Websites can be old by even a few hours or days.

Your timing is perfect. Definitely wait a few weeks. As pointed out, 2016 details will be out shortly so you'll know whether the inevitable 2016 price increase will be worth the extra '16 goodies. And even if GM doesn't decide to add any decent goodies to the '16 you can use the debute of '16's as leverage to negotiate a better price on a '15. And rumor has it GM will be reducing the term of the warranty on the '16's.

Sure, you could negotiate a better price on a 2015.
But, you cannot order the one you want. Exactly.

Keep that in mind...

ADMAN brings up a good point, although before I threw in the towel on finding the exact car you want on the lot I'd check with several large dealers; Kerbeck, Hendrick, etc.

Also if you haven't seen all the colors and color combinations in person I recommend doing so. Several months back, based on brochures and internet photo's, I was absolutely sure I wanted a '14 Cyber Gray with the Kalahari interior... right up until I saw a '15 Shark Gray with red interior. Luckily I was able to find a high volume dealer that had both sitting on the showroom floor. For me there was no contest, I went with the Shark Gray '15 and red.

Don't forget the change in the power train warranty and maintenance on the 2016's if that is a concern.

Check with Dave Salvatori @ Kerbeck. I believe the Mar 28 dead line is incorrect.

Will the allocation system be rescinded when MY 2016 ordering starts?

Thanks Folks for all the good information.

Thanx for the input everyone. I have searched high and low including forum vendors and still can't find what I want. Seams to be lotsa automatics out there.

I'll be ordering a 2016. Waiting for delivery in Aug or Sept will be nerve wracking. I better set aside a little extra for the Ole' # 7 allocation.

Dave
