Default Battery voltage in tour display

Just wondering if 12.6 to 12.8 volts was normal. I would have expected an alternator readout of around 14 volts. I'm assuming it is reading, as implied, the voltage of the battery.

The car has an auto sensing charging system.. If it needs to charge at 14.4 it will. It's not a dumb system like cars we grew up with that cranked out 14.4 all the time.

Mine will actually charge at 15+ volts for awhile, then stay down around 12.8V until it needs to charge again.

Yes, charge on demand. Mine varies too as needed.

That's good to hear. I thought that I'd seen it at higher volts before so that makes sense. I had taken a 4 hour drive with 6 or more stops and when I returned and put the 'Ray on the charger it took many hours to "go green", so when I saw it at 12.6 volts I was concerned. Especially after hearing of some battery failures in new C7's here.

I too have been concerned about the much higher level of charge from the supplied charger as compared to the system. And that is because of occasional slow crank mine does. But no warnings from the car have appeared, or any of the auto shutdowns to non-essential items have occurred!
