Default Factory Film Yellowing

Not sure if it is because I have a AW Z51 '14 but it appears the factory rock chip film on the rear quarter is yellowing. Anyone else notice this?

This yellowing has been reported before. The factory film is a very low quality 3M PPF.

I haven't noticed any yellowing on my 15 month old LB vert.

Yellowing is most noticeable on Artic White.

One of several reasons I had the factory film removed from mine and Xpel Ultimate put on instead.

Mine didn't last long enough to know if it yellows or not. It was beat to death in short order and then I put on lots of xpel.

Do you think that some might have had 10# of 'stuff' hanging on there key chains? I have an HHR and never had a problem. But I only have a car key and a house key on mine. I have seen key rings with enough keys, etc to equal the size of a softball.

There are so many reasons why to take that stock protection off. I removed mine due to constant dirt being caught all around the edge. I redid that whole section with one piece of Xpel ultimate.

This is very true.. My wife had an 04 Grand Am.. the ignition did shut off a few times when going over RR tracks. She also had a ton stuff hanging on her key ring. Got her a new Malibu a few years ago and I got the Malibu as my station car. I only have 3-4 keys on the ring and the car hasn't had the ignition shut off since. Now I do agree the ignition should have never shut off, I also think having a ton of stuff on the key ring isn't a good idea.
C7Jake, just curious... I've seen you post in two different threads today that GM makes poor quality cars and about the ignition problem... Why did you buy a Corvette if you feel GM makes such a poor quality car? I thought you were very proud of your car being you post 50 pics of it in every thread.

Not quite that talented! I used a Xpel installer and had my front end as well as side mirrors done.

Just take the factory stuff off and install a better film like Xpel and not worry about the yellowing effect any more.

Didn't like the GM plastic nor frankly any plastic coving parts of the car! The solution to stoppng rocker panel damage is side skirts!

Side Skirts replace GM (or any) plastic! Mine are CF that match the GM roof

Who did your XPel and how much was it to get the front bumper done? When they did it, did they COMPLETELY wrap the front bumper or do you still have the edge of the film exposed close to the body lines? I am planning to get my front done here really soon..
