Default Roof restraints

Hi, im new to this forum and just wanted to vent a little bit. Have had a new C7 on order for about 6 weeks and the dealer just called and informed me that the standard painted roof was not available at this time. Only the clear roof for an additional $900.00 or so. Looks like the only way to get this order moving is to go with the clear roof which I dont really want. Maybe when the white roof panels are available I could ebay the clear one. any suggestions ? Also whats the best all season tires ? Want to be able to drive it below 40 degrees. Thanks, Dale

That whole roof constraint thing really makes me boil. You never hear about them having a problem with hoods being on constraint do you ? These cars are scheduled for production so they know in plenty of time to have certain parts available for installation including roofs. In my opinion this is nothing more than a blatant attempt at selling the transparent roof since they always seem to have those roofs.

I agree I think its a rip off. The clear panels are probably cheaper than the painted ones and yet they charge more for them. Clearly a marketing ploy.

There are alot of people who will swap their solid roof for your glass roof. It's commonly done here so people don't have to wait for allocations. But you eat the cost as it's a straight trade.

yep. very true. like 100 bucks extra for the badging in black or spoiler/mirror. then what about 500 bucks extra for getting the calipers in another color? it's only an exclusivity thing.

If you are tall, the glass roof will get you back a little head room. But i found that i did not like the sun beating down on my head, even though the roof is smoked glass.

Just a reminder the roof is not glass although people still call it a glass roof. It is plastic.

nope. you'll have to buy one from a vendor here. They attach using suction cups which sometimes fall off and set the alarm off in the car

I was in the same boat as you.. but once the car arrived it looks great.
BTW it gives the interior a much more open feel. I would wait and see before getting too worried .

OP what order status is your vette?

If it is 3000 it should be too late for changing your order.

If it is not 3000, something must be up.

My order was submitted 3/24 and is already at status 3000 with a TPW of 4/27 and I am getting a painted roof.

A good body shop should be able to paint the polycarbonate roof body color, if that really is important. I have to admit that a body color roof and A-Pillars look great.

That would probably look pretty bad from the interior. You'd also be missing the liner that the non-transparent roofs have. Not to mention the transparent roof is 6-8 lbs. heavier than the carbon fiber roofs.

The transparent roof already looks black from the outside and looks somewhat blue looking out from the inside.
