Default Radar Detector--Got one Today

This C7 is so hot--it just wants to go and go and go! So I decided to take advantage of the trade in option and get a Passport Max. I know that this topic is beaten to death, like a dead horse, but I need protection. The car just wants to take off and go!
I traded my 40 year old little Passport/Escort.

Congrats on your new mod. I've read really good reviews on the Passport Max. 40 year old radar detector? Good luck and watch out for lidar guns.

Good detector, now you use a bit more of that right foot. Have fun.

Good choice. Nothing like having a little protection.

Yes, my trade in was a 40 year old Passport. I got it around 1975 when I was on the road and the 55 mph speed limit was really inforced. At that time a new radar was developed that would work on the go and going in opposite directions--believe it or not. The police did not have to be stationary. I needed the Passport to keep my license and my job. The Passport was top of the line. It worked well, even against lasers when they came out. Size: about the size of a cigarette pack and about 1/2 the thickness! There was a little suction cup for attachement and a plug in. It worked for me on the NYS Thruway,Interstates and roads through small towns in Upstate from Syracuse to Rochester to Elmira to Utica and Plattsburg.
My decision on the Max was easy.(the old one still works)

Yeah, the Passport Max is a good detector...have one on my SUV...

However, for la corvetta, got the Passport 9500ci, hardwired, with lidar jammers...invisible from the outside, works great!!!!
With this car, you definitely need it!!!!

Default mirror install

I have mine attached to the mirror with the blendmount unit and wired into the mirror power! It isn't difficult, but takes some patients and gets it off the dash! Good choice of RD!

I really want to get one, but just can't decide on what to get. Have the 9500ix, Max2 and Valentine One all on my list.

Your radar history reminded me of when I lived in Ohio during that period. The government put in a 55 mph speed limit to save gas! I had a 1974 260Z and was accumulating points for being 12 to 15 mph over the limit. Even went to court with a lawyer as I was close to 12 points when late at night a state trooper going the opposite way on a divided highway 4 lane caught up with me about 5 miles later! I didn’t see him until I pulled off the highway and was at a stop street on a rural road! It was interesting, the judge was reading the radar detector manual during the trial as my lawyer asked the officer what angle he was at when he saw me. He tried to say the speed he clocked me at was wrong. The officer did not know the maximum angle! My lawyer asked questions about when the unit was calibrated etc. I wondered why he also asked me about my tires, which I had switched to Michelin XWX’s, and that they were new, the night was clear with no rain etc.
The judge finally ruled that he read the radar manual and it was accurate at a wide angle! However, although I was fined he cited the Ohio State law, which he said although he didn’t agree with, said he could not give me any points since I was traveling at a safe speed for the conditions! That saved my license, I bought an Escort but still traveled slower than trucks on I90 for another year!
Have had a number of Escort models, usually the latest and they have saved me tickets! Bought a Passport Max as soon as they came out just before I received my C7 in October 2013. It has saved me several times. I particularly like the feature of marking “speed traps,” which we have a number in our area. Reminds me of where they set them up! Great product.

Wonder if I can trade in my 50 yr old wife for a new upgrade...?

Since they wouldn't take her during the Trade-In for Clunkers program a few yrs back....
