Default 16 or 32 GB SD Card For Ron Fellows

My wife and I are attending the Ron Fellows Spring Mountain Corvette Driving School in the beginning of May. We are going to take SD cards for the Corvette's PDR to use during the two day school. For those who have attended the two day school is a 16GB card each big enough for the school? Thanks

A 16gb SD card will be more than enough. That's what I used when I was there a few weeks ago. I didn't even come close to using mine up. We ran 6-7 track sessions over the two days. A couple pointers for you...

Remember to put it in during the instructor demo laps. I kick myself for not doing when I was there. These will be the fastest two laps you run over the two days.

You only have to set the start finish line once. If you move to a different car it will remember it. It resides on the card not the car.

Get ready to have a blast.

I am here at Ron fellows typing this &
just completed my first day at the school. I brought a 16 gb and a 32 gb sd card with me and as of today none of the cars had a slot in the glove compartment (PDR). Hopine tomorrow will be different....just the luck of the draw

Default Did you ask them

Did you ask one of the instructors to put you into a 2015 so could use the PDR? I found these guys very accommodating and professional! One of the best driving experiences of my life! Enjoy!

Thanks guys for the help and information. I heard that they were supposed to get a bunch of 2015's in shortly but I do not know if they will arrive before the beginning of May. I will bring a 16GB card for each of us and hope we get cars with PDR. Nuke, how many cars have PDR currently?

since tomorrow, day 2, is more of a track day I will approach the instructors and try to get a 2015,,, they have been real accommodating.
I'm not sure how many '15 with PDR are available and they are still speaking of new inbound cars next month

About half of the cars were 2015's two weeks ago. I took the 3 day course and had a 2015 for the demo ride and all 6 sessions on the third day. Total file size 6.7 gb. The instructors were very helpful to make sure those of us with SD cards got a 2015 when we asked. For the small additional cost I bought a 32 gb and didn't worry about file size. Format the SD card FAT32.

Another thread mentions to start & stop recording with the motor running and also to insert & remove the card (after you stop recording) with the motor running.

One thing I didn't realize - you should go to PDR menu on EACH CAR and select "Choose Video Overlay" and select "Track." I didn't know this so most of my videos have no overlay and a couple have Performance Timing.

See the 2015 manual link in the Sticky section and search for PDR. Download the Cosworth software and have a blast!

That is sort of odd because when I was there for level 2 in January most of the cars were '15's.
And a 16g is plenty.

I'll reuse the SD card in a camera or other device so bigger is always better. Another reason I bought the 32 gb card. Level 2 may have gotten a higher percentage of 15's. I was there for Level 1. They said some 30 new 2015's were due in soon. They had about 6 2014 A6 in the fleet, did not yet have any 2015 A8's. The total C7 fleet was around 110...

Thanks Ron and Snorman, I appreciate the information. I will read up on the use of the PDR ahead of time.

The best way to tell is the cars numbered under 70, except for those with an A (ie 49A) are 2015's; all of the A cars (A for automatic) were 2014's.

During my second day there were only 2 cars equipped with PDR and after speaking to one of the instructors (Todd) I was able to get one and get some footage.
I guess it's the luck of the draw
But had a great 2 days with or without the PDR

I am glad you enjoyed your class and thanks for the information. I called and spoke with Melinda from Spring Mountain today. I asked when they would be getting their shipment of 2015's. She said that they have been made and should be shipped out soon. Then they would have to have the break-in mileage put on the cars. They may not be ready by our May 04-05 two day class.
