Hey, is that a Speedo...?
After 5 months of driving my C7, finally just noticed I have an analog speedometer on the far left portion of dashboard.
I've been using the big digital speed display both on the HUD & the center dash console. 2 big speed display.
For me, Thinking what a wasted use of space there on the left side for the analog speedo. May look cool to see the 200+ mph mark, but since I spend most of my time between 30 - 80 mph, which I can't clearly see on that analog scale anyways...

The analog speedo is totally useless. It's out of your line of sight and the street driving speeds are all in the first inch of movement.
My friend's new Jeep Grand Cherokee has the exact same instrument cluster as my C7 except an analog tach is over there and the speedo is in the center LCD display.
GM should have used the space in the C7 instrument cluster for something like analog oil temp and pressure gauges, THAT would have been cool.

They should have just swapped the left and right analog gauges. If the speedo was on the right, it would be easier to use. And the fuel and water temp would be OK on the left.

The C6 speedo was calibrated much better.
It was skewed to have larger gaps at lower speeds.

Well if you don't have a HUD (1LT) and you like having sport tach ,or have your trip info on the DIC, where are you going to have your speed? I believe it's a necessity and a requirement.

it's there in case you're in weather or eco mode and don't have info in the center DIC, other than that it's useless, I don't even know it's there.

I agree with the original poster....
you should see the Canadian fitted cars... it is calibrated in KM/h and goes up to 330km/h
so even traveling above highway speed (100km=60mhp) you are still well under halfway on the analog scale
I think if they scaled it to 100 mph (160 KM) and then you could use the digital if it were higher would be a great idea at least then you have a relevant scale to work with.

Yikes.
So in kilometers, if highway speeds is 100mph, how often does one uses that analog speedo between 100 - 330mph...?

I guess I'm the weird guy. I actualy use the analog speedo so I can put nav or other stuff on the dic in tour mode. Maybe its just how I sit, but I can see it just fine...
