I'm a Porsche Guy who loves the new Stingray

I'm also a pcar fan and was contemplating getting a 911 after my 335i. Picked up a c7 last July and couldn't be happier. Interesting to see a lot of 335 owners and pcar owners deflecting to chevy.

GM is doing/did well... converting Euro buyers to the C7. Like I said, game changer. There is however one newly released P-car under a 100k (barely) which I'd love to add... the new Cayman GT4.

I am also a Vette newbie and Porsche refugee. I was ready to trade my '05 Porsche on a 2012 911 Turbo when a red C7 caught my eye in front of a dealership. Took that model for a test drive and I was sold. I realized I felt a significant level of pride that an American built car had achieved world class status. I also felt happy that my money was supporting American families and businesses.
People's reactions to the two cars are interesting as well. Other drivers are far more aggressive toward Porsche/BMW drivers. Simple highway merging felt like a competition. It's a completely different experience in a Vette. I've had more people happily wave me through in the last few weeks than I can recall in years of Porsche driving. Every stop at a gas station or store draws a crowd of backslappers or, at minimum, slow drive-bys with thumbs up. I haven't quite figured this out yet, but it seems like a Porsche makes people feel you are a get-rich-quick jerk, while the Vette suggests you are a regular guy who worked hard and is living the dream. It's interesting.

Funny....I did the EXACT same thing as you. Had a highly modded N54 2009 BMW 335i e92 coupe (one hell of an engine, the twins spooled so fast it was insane...full boost at like 1100rpm). Sold her about a year ago.

I sold my 2008 BMW M3 vert and have a 2015 Z51 3LT M7 coming soon (TPW 4/27) I drove the new M3 but a turbo 6 just doesn't do it for me. I love the rumble of a V8 Once I saw and drove the C7 I couldn't wait to get one.

This is my 3rd Corvette but between #2 and the C7 was 14 years of Porsches all of which I loved. You have to own one and spend some time with it to really appreciate the brand. But now the C7 comes and Chevy has finally got it right. Everything you guys have said are my feeling exactly. And talk about getting attention, wow, I never go out in the C7 and not get a 'comment' or a 'thumbs up' or someone snapping a picture. And talk about 'Bang for the Buck' and you just can't beat the C7
So here's a little Before and After:
991 Carrera 'S' To Z-51 2LT 7MT

After a 30 year absence from Corvettes -- during which I drove a variety of fine BMWs -- I decided with the C7 it was time to return to the Corvette fold... and I'm glad I did! I love this car!

Had a Porsche 2005 Carrera, and really liked it. Now I have a 2014 C7 w/Z51 and Mag Ride and love it. Both wonderful cars, but only one really stirs the soul - the C7!

I was in the process of ordering a 2015 Cayman S when my buddy mentioned the supplier discount and that he was buying one. I even had my build code, a discounted price, and a appointment at Porsche dealer.
I decided to go do the chevy dealer with my buddy and take a look at the C7 before I went to the Porsche dealer.
That was all she wrote for the Cayman S. After seeing the C7 I realized not only was the C7 the car for me, it was about $15k cheaper too.

Looking forward to something a little more "track specific" while I work on prepping the 350Z-SC for SCCA.
I too test drove the new M3/M4, but wasn't all that impressed. The M4 is a gorgeous car and can definitely put the power to the ground. But, it didn't feel "that much" better than my current 335iS with DCT. And, I couldn't justify the cost of the hardtop convertible compared to the Z51/2LT that I ordered. With ceramic brakes, the M4 would have been $96K

I really need to hit Mike Furman up for a spin in the Z51 C7 I suppose
Owned two E92 M3's as well and am not a fan of the new M4 design

Never rode in a C6 so dont know how it felt.
I can say the C7 is a real competitor to Porsche.
Ultimately the Cayman weighs less and is midengine so it will have the best feel but the C7 feels amazing.
IMO it is very nimble and feels a lot like my FR-S but with real power.
With Porsche you just have to make too many compromises on features and options unless your willing to pay over $80k and its just not worth it.
C7 has tons of power, feels outstanding, has a awesome interior, had 100k mile warranty, 2 years free maintenance, and still cost $10k+ less than even a bare bones Cayman S.
The choice for me was easy.
I strongly suggest you at least ride in (if not drive) a C7 before you decide.

I priced out the Cayman S with the options I'd want and truth be told it was about $71K (don't need Nav). Just want the X73 suspension and two tone leather interior.

Mine is a 335is. It is not an F30. It is E93 with N54-TT and DCT. Same tranny as the outgoing M3.
2013 335is was actually the last of the N54. That + JB4 + Mods + E85 = Ridiculously fast vehicle

I went from a super modded 350z (laundry list of mods) to a modded E92 2009 335i N54 (Not a fan of JB4 and tricking the ECU to overboost and ride the knock sensors for protection, so I went with the COBB flash tune and the usual laundry list of mods on that one too...)
And here we are now at the C7 crossroads.

I currently own 3 sports cars. All decidely different from each other.
2009 Jaguar XKR Supercharged Portfolio Edition Convertible (very rare, only 200 imported into the USA.).
2014 Porsche Cayman 981
2015 Corvette C7 1LT Coupe.
All three of these beauties are different in their ride quality, appearence and performance. All have a different appeal to me as the owner.
The 2015 Corvette C7 (my 1st ever) is an amazing car for the price that I paid, just $56,088. The Jaguar is pure luxury and the ride is fantastic. The Porsche Cayman 981 is the new design and the handling is awesome. So while many here favor the C7 over the Porsches, I have no regrets owning any of these sports cars.
I drive the C7 more than the other two, but when I want a different ride I have a nice selection to choose from. All 3 have different qualities. All 3 vehicles turn heads when driven. I get thumbs up on all three constantly.
I have no plans to exit or sell the Jaguar or the Poesche due to the arrival of the C7. All I can say is each of these vehicles compliment each other. All 3 are quality driving machines.

Interesting how much smaller the 981 looks next to the C7 in the picture.
Would you say that the C7 feels and drives like a noticeably bigger car than the 981?

I also had a 2009 911 S and a 2006 911 and enjoyed all of them but the design is a bit long in the tooth and was becoming a bit boring to me. The C7 is beautiful to look at as were some of the early corvettes but they all lacked in something i.e. the interior, the drivability, comfort etc.
