Default 1 month old Vette already been T-boned

So teenage driver decided to turn left in front of me and glad I was able to maneuver and try and get around him but he clipped the back left driver side of the car.
Recommendations of good Southern California AutoBody shop
The rear axle is broken, recommendations on should I push to have car totaled, or are the way the car is built make it unlikely to have frame broken
Just hapend so have to call insurance agency in the morning, its Ameriprise
Would you go to good Autobody shop or Chevy Dealer to have body work done?

no way close to a total, it will be fixed. Use the body shop you are most comfortable with. Doesn't look too bad

That's just awful.

I'm sure it can be fixed, however I'd be keeping a close watch on how it shifts after the fix. With the transmission to the rear of the car, I'd have some concerns about the impact to its internals.

Sorry for your misfortune.

Not even close to being totaled. Sorry for the misfortune with a brand new car but it will be easily fixed.

Yup, that sucks, sorry you have to go through this, but it'll be fixed. Personally I'd take it to a Chevy dealer for the body work, so long as their reputable. If there's issues down the road, it's well documented and warrantied for as long as you own the car...paint work and all.

Good luck!

If it was just body work, I would take it to a good body shop. However because there are mechanical issues involved, a top notch Chevy dealership should be used. Do some due diligence before picking out a Chevy dealership as some dealerships might have a better reputation than others. Good luck.

Be sure to get "dimished value" from his insurance co. (usually 20% -25%) of the cost of repair.

Is Ameriprise your insurance or theirs. If it is there's, get ready for a huge fight. They are cheap bastards that will make you jump thru unreasonable hoops to get paid, lowball you on the estimate and insist on as many non-own parts as possible. They also will not send a claims adjuster out, just a third party hired estimator. I got hit on the freeway on my motorcycle. No injuries due to full gear and my skill. They constantly lied and changed their mind about what they wanted in order to pay me out. I had to higher some else to negotiate on my behalf. They insisted on taking both the bike and title before paying me. Eventually they agreed to pay me after sent the title via FedEx. Once they had it, they reneged and insisted on taking possession of the motorcycle before sending the check. I had no choice. Luckily they paid, but it took them a week to cut the check after that. Lucky for them their headquarters is in Idaho and I'm in SoCal.

Good luck getting diminished value out of them. If I were you I'd call your lawyer and have them deal with this. All the lawyers I spoke to said Ameriprise is on their blacklist and they are the worst of the worst.

Go thru your own insurance and let them fight it out with the other guys insurance. That's why you have insurance. Let them do the work.

It hurts to look at the image, but consider yourself fortunate, a split second difference and he might of hit you in your driver side door with potential serious injuries.
Hope it gets resolved to your satisfaction quickly.

If you use your insurance company diminished value will be off the table. It is harder to sue your own insurance company if things go awry.

You can give the at-fault driver's insurance company the benefit of the doubt, but the minute they balk at new OEM parts, you need to be ready to fight. By fight I mean attorney.

Beware teenage driver might not even be on the policy.

Mike - I posted a body shop recommendation in the Souther California section. I would definitely go for the "diminished value" claim through the other driver's insurance.

FWIW with Ameriprise, I was rear-ended by a driver covered by them. It took a while for them to pay the claim, mostly waiting on a police report. But they gave me no hassle, paid the full cost at a body shop of my choice, and paid for a rental car in a comparable class to what was being repaired.

For this one, if it's possible, I'd go to a good dealer for the mechanical work, and a good independent shop for the bodywork. Unless the chevy dealer's bodyshop also has a good rep. Find a local Corvette club. They should be able to make recommendations on where to go.

That's what I did, I have State Farm and my car was in the shop for three months. Body shops don't even keep screws in stock, every thing has to be ordered and if you are lucky, none of the parts will be on back order. You will have a Car Fax report detailing your accident. I did and it killed my trade in. Good Luck.

Oh man. I feel your pain brother. Don't have a C7 yet but...

Wife was in our 2014 jeep SRT. Some low life of a woman crossed the double yellow and almost a head on hit...side swiped her. Wife spun twice. Left rear tire was ripped out of the rear diff...axle, arms, everything was still attached to the wheel/rim.

Wife is okay but piiiiiiissed. Haha. Other driver had NO insurance and car wasn't hers...also NO insurance. She got jail time for this accident. Hell! Yea!!

Found a body shop from a friend's recommendation and they were AWESOME. Douglasville, GA. I'll give them a kidney if they need one.

We had a terrible experience with dealer body shops. No way we're we going that route again.

So sorry to see your vette banged up.
