In watching the opening of the Long Beach Grand Prix IndyCar race yesterday, I was quite surprised that the pace car was not a Z06, Chevy's top of the line Corvette.

Since the race was sponsored by Toyota, I was quite surprised to see the Corvettes as the pace car, not a Toyota.

The car was partially developed and tested on the runway of the national US Air Force museum at Wright-Patterson AFB. It is partially funded by AFRL with Arrow Electronics as the lead integrator, and of course GM.

Sam also ran 2 laps in the car about an hour prior to the Long Beach race last weekend.

Watched that on the weekend. Very, very cool to see him doing that. I am sure it was a very emotional experience for him to drive...

Saw that on the nightly news - what a great story and good to see him get behind the wheel again.

I have been following this with interest. Developing the car and its control systems is really neat. Hopefully this will make its way into passenger cars, allowing for better control and keeping everyone safer.
Very cool to see this man at the "wheel" again.
Thanks for posting.

With the graphics obscuring the surface details of the C7, it becomes very apparent how close its proportions are to the C6. Under a tight-fitting car cover the shapes are nearly indistinguishable.

Inspiring. Just goes to show that anything is possible when the will to achieve it is strong enough.
