Default 2016 MODEL guide out and YES, Z51 listed as its own MODEL again!

Just went online to look at 2016 and online GM reference guide says "pick a model" and lists 6 models with different codes and yes Z51 is listed as its own MODEL once again just like the 2014 and 2015 online order reference guide. I just don't understand why some wont accept Z51 now in the 7TH generation as finally being its own model. Here is the 2016 website showing the different C7 models.

Why do you care whether or not someone thinks the Z51 is its own model? Is it really that serious of an issue?

Personally I could care less. As long as I know what I'm getting why would I care if Chevy considers it a different "model".

That said, what I've always seen on their web site sort of makes it look like they don't consider it a separate model. For 2015 you first select if you want to look at a "2015 Corvette Stingray" or a "2015 Corvette Z06". Once selecting the Stingray, you choose Coupe of Convertible. Finally you choose 1LT, 2LT, 3LT or else one of those three trim levels that says "3LT with Z51 Performance Package". So they are saying (in my example) that it's a Stingray with the 3LT trim level and clearly makes Z51 a "Performance Package". 2014 was exactly the same way.

But I'm still back to "who cares"?

Might be nice if more people understood the difference...the good news is ...that my insurance agent doesn't.... he's quoting on the 'coupe' cause his listing doesn't recognize Z51.
(or Z06 for that matter).

To clarify, if you actually go to the page and look at what it says, it still says:

"Stingray Coupe with Z51 Performance Package "

So the Z51 is still an option package on a coupe or convertible. Its not a separate model.

Mine asks Z51 specifically.

This. From his posts here it's obviously VERY important to Dave for some bizarre reason.

The Z51 fiasco started in the C6 forums when it was first released as an option. In fact, they wanted a separate forum for Z51 only owners. For some reason, some people seem to think the Z51 should be its own model (like Z06/GS/ZR1), which I disagree with. Each of the listed models have a change in bodystyle panels where the Z51 does not. So, here we are again debating whether the C7 Z51 should be its own model. History repeating itself....

Just enjoy the car, regardless of what you have. Any way you configure it, it's a great car.

GM figured they's sell more cars with Z51 option if they tried to position it as a separate model. What a surprise, they want to sell more cars!!

The fact there is a debate about it should tell you something.

GM can FOOL some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

There is never a debate about whether the Z06 is its own model. Hmmmm

So the Z51 is still an option package on a coupe or convertible. Its not a separate model.

That is correct....its an OPTION!

Just like the Z07 is an Option on the Z06 model.

Oh brother. This again. My C6 had the Z51 package. My C7 does not. I did not brag that my C6 had the Z51 package, and I am not ashamed that my C7 does not. Get over it.

Why does it annoy you? Why do you care what anyone else thinks?

Does it make you feel better than or superior to those C7 owners who don't have the Z51 option package on their car?

Many have sniffed this one out and not drinking the "separate model" GM Kool-Aid.

This euphemism applies too:

If it look like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

What does it matter?

The Z07 perf package on the Z06 isn't regarded as a separate matter and nobody cares one way or the other. If you want the Z07 package on the Z06, get it. If you don't, you don't.

Z51 seems the same to me. If you want it get it.

I've never understood what the hubbub is all about.

(or Z06 for that matter).
Insurance will go off the VIN which will show as a Z51. Not a separate model IMO but insurance rates are usually higher due to the track nature of the car. My rates went up due to package.
