TSW center caps switch
I thought some of you might be interested in this. I wanted the Stingray with ghost fish logo center caps on my TSW wheels. Here's what I did to make it happen. These caps graphics are on a thin aluminum overlay So I had to cut the overlay off of the plastic backing then glue them on the TSW caps.
First thing is to cut the aluminum overlay to the correct diameter. to accomplish this I chucked them in a lathe and used a sharp tool to cut/score the thin overly.
The Stingray caps are two pieces of plastic snapped together so after scoring I popped the two plastic pieces apart, the one on the left is the one with the overly and the other is the part that snaps into the wheel.
The caliper is set to the diameter I cut to fit properly on the TSW caps.
The aluminum overly is crimped around the plastic backing so I ground notches through the crimped area so I could bend it away from the backing.
With the overly removed I had to then separate the unwanted aluminum at the cut/score mark I made in the lathe by bending and tearing, this followed the score mark quite well.
This process leaves some burrs and sharps on the outer edge of the aluminum overlay which I filed smooth.
I bead blasted the clear coated TSW aluminum disc so the glue would adhere better.
I used an epoxy product from Devcon to glue the overlay onto the TSW aluminum disc.
And the finished product.

Nice job creating those center caps and they look great.

The TSW insert caps are also stickers. 3D Stickers (59-60 mm) are truly three dimentional and fit perfectly in the pronged TSW Nurburgring cap. You can order almost any logo you want as long as you send a photo to them. The author did a great job and the caps look really good. I don't have those skills or the tools and opted for the cheaper and easier route of ordering the 3D Stickers. See photos of my center caps on the Nurburgring wheels (still on my rack awaiting winter mounting soon) and of the TSW caps as well as some unused 3D Stickers.
