Did you expect more changes for the 2016 Corvette? What did you want upgraded?
#21
Once it was announced at the NCM Bash in April that the 2016 Corvette would be a "rolling assembly" that told me immediately that any changes from 2015 to 2016 would be cosmetic only. In fact, it was announced that while BG is producing C7's, they will be producing 2015's and 2016's at the same time until the 2015 orders are filled.
By cosmetic, I refer to such things as the front view cameras, a few new wheel designs (but at real high price points), a new steering wheel, a few new colors and interior combinations etc. Yes, the new steering wheel will be standard in all models (no big deal to me on that one).
Nothing major was added to the 2016 only enhancements. No new engine, no increased HP, no chassis changes, no body panel changes, no tire changes, etc.
Essentially the 2016 is the same as the 2015 with changes and slight upgrades made only available for those who want to pay extra for the enhancements. Yes, the new steering wheel will be standard.
So, I was not excited about any of the changes. Dissapointment was the warranty downgrade change, reduction in free oil changes, and "no" ZF1 Appearence Pkg for 2016. Looks like all 2015 ZF1 options that was included in the package will now be priced as "ala carte" options for the 2016MY.
I am sure the price for even the base model will increase which has yet to be announced, if it is announced. We will see in June when official pricing is released.
I strongly feel that those Corvette owners who bought a C7 in the 2015MY cannot be disappointed at all.
Those who waited for the 2016, also wont be dissappointed, but really; there not getting anything earth shattering in the 2016MY v. the 2015MY.

This isn't a change, it's redesigned car. BTW how tall are you? I'm 6'1" with to spare, just curious what height makes it an issue

Seems like it could be adjusted for bigger guys. My brother is 6'4" 210ish and was fine driving it, but he's built about like me only taller.

I am surprised that no one has said a re-design of the seat bottom bolsters. I find no issues with the seats and they feel very comfortable to me. However, I read a lot of complaints in past threads about seat issues. Maybe for those that had issues, the seats have since broken in.

It's a lovely car as-is.. but we all benefit from some improvements over time, and the C7 is no exception...
Jacking pucks should be made standard
No. To be built in, they have to be pretty short to maintain ground clearance. I prefer having the option to use taller pucks.
Rear diffuser blades
No Thank You. Too ricer. Maybe as a separate option package, with a 2 foot tall aluminum wing?

Since I had my 2015 Vert I was actually not looking for any major changes. Kind of glad I was not one of those on the fence buyers always waiting for the unknown upgrade, etc.

I would love to see the electron blue from 2002 offered as a color. I kinda like the current one, but it is a bit too light.
Also, not sure if you will be able to in the 2016, but use these new bumper cams for the PDR video, maybe also the backup cam. Would make for some better videos rather than just the over the hood view.
I also like the jack pucs as a standard feature, but make them removable for the ground clearance.

1. My friend's Honda van has a camera that comes on when the turn signal is turned on so you can see the blind spot. That would be very helpful.
2. The heated seats are a JOKE. They put out no heat at all. My wife hates them.

I guess I had two sets of wish lists; The first is to fix the current issues and design flaws, the second is actual improvements:
Fixes:
- Fix overheating issues, especially with the A8
- Fix slow shifting response of A8 when using paddles
- Fix electrical issues (HUD going black, gauges going black, etc.)
- Fix paint quality
- Fix interior rattles (example: hood & fuel release)
- Fix heated and cooled seats (they don't really work well at all)
- Fix poor stereo sound quality and lack of volume and Bass.
- Fix supplier issues and constraints of standard (and optional) equipment (Ex. Roof panels)
- Restore 100k warranty, expand to 10 year/100k
Updates:
- LT2 engine and power bump to @510hp
- Offer a real performance transmission
- 360' parking view
- Update rear end / tail lights
- Update front end / head lights
- Offer dynamic rear wing
New Trim:
- Bring back the Grand Sport to replace Z51 w/ Carbon brakes and aero packages.

GM seems to be following the normal platform cycle as far as upgrades. The 2016 upgrades are mostly normal "fixes" to lack of choices and complaints by consumers. If GM follows Corvettes past history look to 2017 for more "exciting" and "faster" upgrades.

And a hefty price increase?

Auto transmission shifts fine when using paddles, No electrical issues, No rattles, Heated and cooled seats work fine, Audio sound quality and features are good, like my 100k warranty and 4 free oil changes, 460 HP is plenty of power, Rearview camera does a great job, love the front and rear facia design, headlights and tail lights, love Z51 spoiler design.
2014 Dislikes: Prefer to shift via shift lever rather than paddles
