New Weekend 30 Minute Mod-OEM GM Splash Guards
I completed another weekend 30 minute mod today installing my new OEM GM Splash Guards. While many might think the splash guard installation is a waste, I am now a believer.
When painted to match the car, these look awesome and provide a flaired fender appearence to an already beautiful driving machine. The key to the appearance is the body color paint.
I ordered the splash guards from GMpartsdirect.com. They had the best price. I had some remaining paint in Torch Red so I went town.
First, upon arrival I cleaned the surface with brake cleaner to remove any oils or contaminents from the ABS material. Then I applied 3 coats of Adhesion Promoter, 3 coats of Torch Red and 3 coats of High Gloss Clear Coat. The result was a beautiful coating of body color basecoat and high gloss clear coat.
The install took no more than 30 minutes to remove the old OEM GM splash guards that comes on all models base to Z06 and installing the new OEM GM guards.
The new look is awesome, and you now have additional protection from dirt, debris and rock chips to the bottom quarter panels in back of the front and rear tires.
I highly suggest and recommend this modification to your C7 if you don't have them on already.

That looks great! I am getting tired of the half black ones on my DSOM, thinking seriously about going that route.

Nice work they look good, really like the paint match versus the black ones you mostly see owners installing.

There are many modifications that one make if they are willing to invest a few bucks and time in DIY projects.
All of my mods so far have been DIY projects and I saved allot of money v. buying items from vendors, outside autoparts companies etc.

Will be interested to hear how the finish holds up over time. Looks great. Fine job.

The paint should hold up just as any other paint on the C7. There is no exposure to rock chips or debris on the outside. It is the inside of the splash guard that takes the abuse. The inside is not painted and was left in the original ABS material that the spash guards are made of.
I cleaned the surface with brake cleaner to remove any oils or contaminents from the ABS material. Then I applied 3 coats of Adhesion Promoter/Primer, 3 coats of Torch Red and 3 coats of High Gloss Clear Coat
I will advise if they start to look like a POS. I doubt they will.

As per your request.....
Cleaner: Autozone: $4.50 per can
Paint: Automotivetouchup.com $20.00 per can
Adhesion Promoter/Primer: AutoZone $10.00 per can
Clear Gloss: Autozone $10.00 per can
It just takes patience to apply and make sure that you give each coating ample time to dry. Start to finish time on prep, primer, basecoat paint, clear coat was 6 days. Each coat needs to dry throughly before applying the next coat. Take your time.
Then just 30 minutes to install all four, removing the old, installing the new. Tools needed: 7mm socket to remove OEM GM washer screw underneath each splash guard, a large flat head screwdriver to remove the clips off the old splash guard, and two human hands.
The supplies will last for multiple DIY C7 projects. In this DIY project you will use very little of the materials listed.
All of my materials were left over from other C7 Torch Red paint projects.
Hope this info helps what you were asking or looking for.
Best regards, have fun. Do it.

You did a great job on them, they really look good. Congrats!
I don't have your talent or patience so I just bought mine from RPI Designs

That's really a good match and a good look to the car. It does break with tradition of the black guards in a nice way.

Burning Brakes
I bought mine color matched to my Arctic White but whoever painted them did not match it very well. I should redo it myself like you did but I am too lazy.

Heh .............. That's why I left mine black. Kind of fits the two tone color of our drop tops. Besides which, I'm not as artistically talented as nmvettec7 !

That is one nice and relatively simple/inexpensive mod.
