Default C7 Corvette Inner Fender Liners

I have been meaning to make this post for awhile but always slips my mind.

How do you feel about the inner fender liners on the C7 compared to your previous generation Corvettes (I had an '07 and '09 C6 with the plastic inner fender liners, I am assuming up to '13 were all plastic)?

I guess my overall question is how do you feel about the fabric inner fender liners vs plastic ones?

Love them, insulate road noise, and look great all the time. The plastic fenders always looked like crap unless you cleaned them at every stop. Another plus, plastic fenders would start showing stone abrasion after a few thousand miles.

What about all the crap that gets stuck in them? Just curious.

I'm neutral on them, but can't find much to be concerned about either. I'm watching them to see how they wear, they live in a pretty harsh environment. I don't hear much difference in road noise or small stone pickup noise compared to my C6. They don't clean up as easily as the plastic liners but they do seem to respond pretty decently to a good strong spray from the hose.

I think it stops sand, and such, from bouncing all over!

I wasn't sure about them at first, but after over a year with my C7 I really like them. Here is an SAE paper comparing fiber wheel liners to plastic: http://www.soundanswers.net/Tech_Pap...09-01-2106.pdf

Interesting read. I'd always felt the noise coming from the road was excessive. This article shows the fiber liner is quieter than plastic liners. Wow how loud were those plastic liners, anyway? My own experience is that driving in the rain I hear a lot of noise coming from the liners as water is constantly drumming against it. Probably get similar sounds from sand and small gravel, too. Next time you go to your car reach under the wheel well and tap the liner with your fingernails. Sounds like a drum. My sound proofing strategy, when I get around to it, is to add some sound deadening product to the liners in the top inside portion (behind) the liner and see if I can reduce the noise and drum like sounds.

I don't find that to be an issue.

So far so good, but as others stated, waiting to see how they wear over time.

I will say they're easy to clean and seem to show less dirt than the plastic ones.

I hate them, you can't keep them clean.

They're fabric? Never even noticed.

Someone spilled a can of light brown paint on the road and I was not able to avoid it quick enough. I drove over it with my driver front and rear tires. Paint was all over the driver side body and both fender liners. I was able to remove it from the body, but I had to spray paint the liners black because there was no way to remove the paint from the fabric. You can't tell what happened now, but it would have been nice to be able to clean the paint of the liners.

After over 5000 miles the liners on my car look as they did when I brought the car home. It's a different look, but it works!

I like them, 5000+ miles in 2 months and they still look good. I hope they will last as look as the plastic liners do. And they are quieter.

Had them on my 2012 Jeep GC and again on my 14 , easy to clean with hose and a scrub brush when really dirty . Does keep the noise down.
