Default Buying my first Corvette!

Hello everyone! My name is Brayden, ive been a corvette lover since i was just a little kid. I recently got a job that pays 3k monthly. i wanted to put 13k down on a 2015 which i have currently. keep in mind, i will be staying home during college simply because i dont have much of a reason to move out right now. so all i will be paying for is the car and insurance. My first question, is the 2lt z51 package worth it? and second, how much did you guys pay and how much do you think i can bargain it down? Thanks everyone! also ive noticed alot more autos? opinions on that?

i just saw something where you get a discount if youre friends with an employee? Cause i have a family member that works at one so that would be awesome! how much are your monthly payments if you dont mind me asking..

Hey Brayden. I assume you have a smart phone. iPhone, Galaxy. Etc. there are apps that are for loan calculating. You can play with the total cost, % and length of the loan. I downloaded one and have been using it to play with the numbers of what I really want to pay per month. Easy to see any changes immediately.

Payments all depend on length, percentage and how much you're financing.

Everyone here pays something different per month.

You have nice parents. I don't have kids, but if I did and my son bought a corvette while living at home, the first thing I'd say to him would be "WHY DONT YOU USE THAT MONEY TO MOVE THE HELL OUT!!!"

For the record, I used the supplier discount so there was no negotiating. It was about 5-6K off MSRP, I'm sure you can get better bargains without without it now that it's been out for 2 years. 2LT and Z51 are mandatory in my opinion, but everyone here feels differently about it.

Here's the problem. Kids like yourself that "have no reason to move out" yet buy a 50K+ car. Seriously? Are your parents paying for your college too? hahaha I wouldn't be surprised. It's sad really, I feel bad for the parents that feel as though they are obligated to pay for their kids college then house them until they are 30 years old.

Where did this self entitlement come that so many college kids have today? Hell I wonder, and I'm only 36yo (bought my first home at 24yo)

Want to be a big boy? Go get yourself a house first to garage your new corvette. That comes first.

Priorities son

Have fun before settling down - it sounds like your parents are supportive. A 1LT or 2LT non-z51 is a great sports car at a reasonable price.

Best deal you will get is on a 2015 C7 that is sitting on a dealers lot that they want to get rid off.

Shop the section here on the CF under Dealer Inventory.

Call Mike Furman at Criswell, he might have something or can find something for you. Discounts could be in the 10 to 12% range off MSRP.

I have never dealt with Mike Furman, but his posts here are professional, and his reputation is impeccable in the automobile industry, and he is a Corvette Specialist.

He seems like a super straight salesperson and has survived in the industry for over 25 years +.

I am sure that perhaps other CF members might agree with my thoughts.

Default New Kid in the block

Hello Brayden,
Don't do it!!!!
I was your age and know to well how hard it will be to contain the need for speed.
U should first call your insurance company and c if they will even I sure u.
And just for the record should u get some tickets or God forbid crash u will be canceled. I never had a Vette when I was young but had my share of fun and learned the hard way insurance companies don't like young guns.
And your just getting started in life and will have many years to come as you progress to enjoy nicer things than a Corvette and if anything you get a great deal on a used one. But hey if your the typical young male you won't listen to me and find out the hard way.
Good luck.

Guys, answer Brayden's questions.

He didn't ask for your opinion on his personal life and/or circumstances.....no judging!

Again, if you don't have an answer for his questions-do not post.

No offense Steve,
But Brayden shared his personal circumstances. And not here for criticism just sharing some advice. And he isn't under my roof so good luck and hope for the best should he look to get a Vette.

Wow really??? As long as his parents support it and don't have a problem with it then you shouldn't either. Seems you're a bit salty for some reason. No reason to be hard on this new member!

As for OP, you should consider between 7-10% off a good deal. Shop around!

I agree, but a HIGH percentage of the responses to the OP ON THIS FORUM are judge mental and offering unwanted advice and very seldom does a moderator jump in. Why on this one not a whole bunch of others?

Brayden,

Back in '77 I did the exact same thing you are considering, bought new off the floor, sticker was 10,300, I was 22 at the time and at home and attending college. I was shocked to learn my annual insurance premium was 2,500. Really took all the fun out of it for me and the car lasted a year. I'll not comment about whether you should or shouldn't this is America and it is your choice! However, take some time and fully investigate the real costs to own your "dream car".

Fast forward 38 years and I just took delivery of my '15 Z51, it now costs less than half to insure it than it did back in '77, is an amazing car, and probably the best car purchase I've made (and I've purchased 21 new vehicles)

If you go forward, take the advice here and go to a forum dealer, it will likely save a lot of money. Mine came from MacMulkin and was delivered last month.

If it was me, I think I'd get an LS3 C6 and place to live with at least a 1 car garage. You'll still bring home the tail and you won't have to worry about your parents hearing you.
