Default Has anyone painted the dash?

I didnt want to spend $1000 on carbon fiber one, so figured i could just paint the stock one. I had a buddy of mine that did this with his wood interior trim on the m5, he did it in gloss black. It came out nice! So maybe paint it carbon flash? How hard would it be?

Were you planning to remove the parts to be painted or paint them in place? If you remove them it would be easier to paint but the effort to remove them might be more than you'd care to take on. Either way, you might want to look into vinyl wrap. You can get carbon fiber look with a wrap and possibly install it without removing the parts. There are "3D" wraps that mimic the feel of fiber, too. I've done a few small jobs with it and it came out pretty good. Started with a license plate frame in black fiber, then wheel center caps in red fiber. Trying to learn its ways before moving to more complex jobs. Get it on Ebay cheap, free shipping. Might could do the whole job for under $20. Lots of how to videos on YouTube.
Which ever way you go please post pictures so we can see and learn from you. Good luck!

A carbon fiber dash is not $1000, you can get a good one and install it yourself for about $400 including tools you might need.

True, take your time and find a deal. Much better option than painting yourself IMO.

Do a search for Glen E's post on his build. He repainted almost every bit of his interior in Carbon Flash himself and it looks Awesome!

Taking out the dash is quite a project. You might want to do a search before you consider removing.

+1. I saw a chevy tech install two of them. It isn't as easy as some think.

With that said, you can buy them on eBay for $495 shipped and can get it installed for about $100. That is what the Chevy tech charged but he did job on the side not at the dealer.

This is another choice. Carbon fiber overlay. It will not require you to remove the dash.

Not a ricer, quite eye catching. For my own taste its a bit over the top. Probably looks a lot better in person, with the whole car to complete the overall look and give it context. Like I've said before, I've yet to see an ugly C7.

Each of us has different tastes - one persons "RICER' is another person's "Michaelangelo" and versa vice (ya' see what I did there?) The only way we will see the Mod that we really want is to look through the forum at the pictures by guys/gals with the cajones to put the pix on the page - so thanks again to each one of you.

GM stated at the Bash that its C/F dash option will be expanded to flat and new glossy finishes for 2016.

Its fun to see owners get creative with the cars.

I love the overlay as they make it for many parts of the cockpit, but I think Elagants is going to be collecting more trophies

I like the looks of the glossy clear coated overlay better than the dry carbon look.
