Dealership has had my car for 2+ weeks
Some of you may have seen a previous thread I started about running over some road domes and causing damage to 3 wheels and tires (+seat belt tensioner)
Fast forward 19 days and the dealership STILL has my C7. I told them on the 20th of April that my insurance would cover it and then in return the dealership told me they would handle it. My insurance company contacted me the same day and the process started. When the dealership called me on the 20th they told me everything they were going to order. A claim resulting at around $3.5k+.
Before I continue with the rest of the story I want to mention that not once has anyone from the dealership called me to update me on the car like they said they would. I called them once to tell them to change the oil while there and a second time to do an alignment on it while it was there.
On Monday (day 15) I called to ask about progress. "We have all of the parts and we'll start on it tomorrow". I asked "Can I at least pick it up on Friday? (Today)"..."I don't see why you couldn't unless we run into snags in the road".
Now let me remind you, this is 3 replacement wheels and a seat belt tensioner. Does this sound like a big job to anyone?
Yesterday afternoon I called again to confirm that I was picking the car up Friday (today). After 2 calls and 2 messages left I received a return call. "Well sir, we ran into a problem getting the wheels and tires to Discount Tire"....wait wait wait what??? A problem getting the wheels and tires to one of the three Discount Tires within 5 miles from your dealership?
The service rep tells me it won't be ready until Monday. 22 days from drop off.
I've checked my OnStar app and miles are still the same. Yes, I'm worried about it.
Should I be concerned? Plan of action? I've already emailed Chevrolet Customer service and have not heard back. Have also PMed Chevy Customer Care here and have not heard back.

I also want to add that I told the dealership I wanted to keep the bent wheels and they told me "it's a $50 core charge per wheel"....is this normal? Sounds ridiculous.

I'd ask your insurance agent about the wheels. If they paid for new ones, the bent ones are yours to keep. Sounds like the dealership is wanting to make some back money by sending the damaged ones out for repair.

Agreed. If I have to pay that ridiculous charge I will. I'll have them repaired myself.

Sounds like they had to order the wheels and tires and it took 3 weeks to get them. That isn't optimum but I say WOW that they send it off to Discount Tire anyway. Do you have the tire/wheel warranty through GM? Surprised that the dealer can't handle the work themselves. Maybe they don't have the tire/wheel equipment that won't scratch the wheels.
I would be disappointed with the dealer too and would have used Discount Tire for all the work if you didn't have a GM tire/wheel warranty.
Hope you get your car back soon.

It has taken them a week to even drive the tire and wheel combo to Discount. They did tell me they couldn't do it. No surprise now.

One thing is for sure, with that kind of customer service, I'd be finding another dealer to take the car too for future service.

"In honor of jpee"
just for the new wheels and tires to be mounted. altho odd-sounding, it's better than using old-tech or worn wheel/tire mounting machine and damaging the wheel, tire or both. many dealers don't have the latest equipment, mostly due to cost. those new machines are not cheap.

The service department should be open on Saturday morning, and I would suggest that you pay the service department a personal visit.
Eyes on inspection of what's going on seems to be the best porture at this point, rather than making phone calls back and forth.
I would also contact the Discount Tire Store to see if the GM dealer has even made contact with them.
After such a long period of time, I would want to see first hand what the deal is.
Seems like you could have gone direct to Discount Tire and had them order the tires and let them secure the wheel replacements.
I have used Discount Tire here in my town located in southern New Mexico, and when I ordered tires, they had them in within 2 to 3 business days.

Three weeks is a long time for wheels and tires. Look on the bright side though, you live in an area you can pretty much drive the vette all year in good weather no problem. What sucks is a northern vette driver with a long down time during the nice weather driving season ( April-Nov). Hope you get it sorted soon and back on the road. I'd take my business elsewhere next time.
