Default 402 wheel choices for 2015 Camaro, yet 9 choices for C7

Why are the options for replacement 18/19 rims so impossibly limited for the C7?

Example from Tirerack
There are 402 wheel choices for 2015 Camaro

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...5&autoModClar=

ONLY 9 for the base C7

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...&package=false

WTF????!! And 5 of these are > $900 per wheel

The odd offset limits how many different other cars can use that wheel. Not worth the cost except for the upmarket wheel vendors who can charge according.

Is the odd offset due to the large brake calipers, which require a lot clearance?

Because we bought the "base" car. There are more for the Z51 sizes. I guess we are being discriminated against.

Surprisingly, there aren't that many affordable wheels for the Z51 size either.

Just strange that a car with an annual production run of 30,000-35,000 cars has hardly any aftermarket wheels that are <$1000 for a set.

Even my XLR, which only had about 15,000 cars built during it's entire 6 year run, has more of a selection.

Guess I will have to wear out my stock tires and move up to a different size tire/wheel then.

This is the reason.

It has nothing to do with the diameter offerings Z51 vs base. It's all about the offsets.

The C7 has astronomically high offsets that quite frankly just isn't the case on most other cars. Wheel companies build wheels (those who build cheap pressure cast wheels non-made to order) that can suit the most applications possible, and high offsets severely limit design possibilities like concavity.

How will that help? You won't find many wheels with the huge offset needed for the C7 regardless of the diameter.

80k Camaro's per year versus 30k Corvettes.
So with that same proportion, I'd be happy with 150 wheel options

I wonder why they built the car with such high offsets?

To move the hubs further from the center of the car. It's a handling thing. I'm pretty sure they were given the ideal track width front and rear, designed a car that was shrink wrapped around the mechanicals, and decided that a high offset would work just fine on the C7 as long as the suspension bits were where they wanted them from a performance perspective. Concavity is purely cosmetic, but people like it.

I'm one of those people, and the new Z06 wheels are looking pretty damn sexy to me so a Z06 widebody conversion may be in the cards one day...

I am in the market for a set of aftermarket Z51 wheels. Unfortunately, the ones I like are all over $8000 a set. Trying to find the exact size 19x8.5 offset 56 and 20x10 offset 79 in a chrome wheel in my prize range (up to $4000) and style is impossible (or I have not seen them yet).

Guess everyone is right, Black is the new chrome, unfortunately, I am not a fan of black.
