Nice ride!
Mine was an early 2016 build an they didn't include timer. I've since gone back to dealer for a reprogram on cluster and now have it. Thanks!

Awesome you chose a Z51 instead of joining the GS "wide body" frenzy. Great choice, you will enjoy so much.

I do recommend a modified version of the Ranger method which makes it very easy.

Every weekend, I use a syringe to extract the contents of the clutch reservoir bowl, refill with clean Super DOT4 and put the cap back on. I do this just once. Then I just drive the car, which takes care of the clutch pumping part. Total time expenditure is less than 5 minutes.

If you do this every weekend, you'll be continually renewing the clutch fluid over time, and the clutch action will always be smooth.

If you prefer to start out mostly clean, you can do the procedure in the video 10 times or so, and then revert to the once week single bowl maintenance method. Your clutch fluid will always be clean.

Thank you for taking the time to produce and publish your videos. I've enjoyed them all since ordering my new GS in September. They're very informative and always entertaining. Could you please describe your track video/performance data setup...either on a future video or here in the forum? Keep up the great work. Hope to see you around Pitt Race next Spring/Summer.

C7s,

Your "Ranger Method" video is well-done.

You mentioned that you needed to use the entire can, but you actually don't. I used the same brand of fluid you did, and I just checked the can, which says it can be stored in the original can with the cap on tight. There is no expiration date.

I used an entire can the first time, but now using my "one bowl a week method," I've been through a couple of cans now. Perhaps it's a my imagination (placebo effect), but it sure seems to me that the clutch action get's continually smoother over time with the clean fluid.

I'd also suggest putting a large towel over the fender closest to the reservoir filler to avoid any splatter there.
