How rare is your Corvette (part 2)
Dave@Kerbeck started a thread about "How rare is your Corvette" and thought I would ask the question if anyone could post the production numbers in a "spread sheet" type format and you type in your year, colors, options, etc. and it would tell you that your car is 1 of how many that were built exactly like that. Much like the "MARTI" report. Just wondering as I think it would be a VERY popular item and should be on a sticky if someone could do it.

But the answer would not be correct. Your approach assumes that all options are chosen in a linear fashion, but they are not. For example, some interior colors are actually much rarer with a given exterior color than the overall percentages would indicate.

All this talk of "rare" C7's is ridiculous. They will never be rare just like the C6 never will. Maybe uncommon but hardly rare. People have mentioned that some optioned LRG cars were number 1 of a very low number. That's because the color sucks and nobody bought them. Nobody wants them now and nobody will in the future. So whoever has those LRG cars good luck in the future when you you use the selling point of only 1 of 25 made. Their ugly now and they will be ugly 10 years from now.

My Vette is not rare. 1 of 37,288.
I hope the moderator closes this well intended thread b/c one person can't be civil.

All of the Off Topic pissing contest posts have been removed. Warnings have been issued as appropriate. Keep it on topic and quit the pissing contests. Fair warning.

A lot us would like to know what percentage of the cars were equipped like our particular cars. There is nothing wrong with wanting that information and I hope someone can come up with a way to do that. Civility in discourse please.

As long as the buyer can live with the color choice then that is all that matters. I have even bought a lime green Lotus Europa Twin Cam in the past and liked it.

Mine's easy.
550 supposedly made, but I've never seen confirmation that all 550 were.

GM would have to provide information at a much more granular level than what is available currently. With the available data, all we can do is apply the percentages of each option to get an approximation, but that's all it will be. And depending on the option, it could be a close approximation, or a pretty inaccurate one.

Perhaps the word "unique" would have been a better choice. Remember the 1967 Corvettes that were made in pale blue (sorry, I forget the color name) and had red interior. That was unique/rare and apparently desirable later.
We strive to be unique, and while Henry Ford felt that "any color as long as it's black" made sense, we would want our C7 to stand out in some small fashion.

I tried to find out how rare mine is by contacting the museum, but they have never been able to tell me any more than I already know. My car is a 2014 Z51 convertible with full black stripes. A total of only 125 z51 convertibles cars were produced in all colors with black stripes according to the final stats from 2014. I can't find out how many of them were Velocity Yellow which is what I am looking for. I even contacted the plant and there reply was that they could not find out how many were produced in yellow with z51 and full stripes.

Most folks will NEVER track their Corvette's but they want to know "what it'll do", the same goes for color/options etc.
But the minute someone uses the word "rare" they get skewered. It's all about the "numbers" so why not have some fun?
Car guys like to know these things.

2. I don't buy for resale anyway, I buy what I like (actually when it comes to color I buy what my wife likes but it just so happens I like it too).
3. And finally, tastes change over time. In 1967 Goodwood Green which looks pretty close to LRG was the most popular color. I kept my C5 for 14 years so assuming I keep my 14 just as long, who knows what the popular colors will be in 2028?
Edit: "Nobody bought them". Well, they were the lowest selling color at 4%. But still 1,491 cars were purchased by somebody, including all the Premier Edition convertibles. So I know I'm not the only one

My 2011 ZR1 is likely a one of a kind as optioned. The probabilities calculate out that it is a 1 out of every 5800 ZR1s built in 2011 not even counting the NCM delivery. Of course they only built 806 ZR1s in 2011 so hence my car is likely a one of its kind in 2011.
