Just Curious - Z06 look on a Base or Z51?
Not looking to anger anyone, I'm just curious...
I think the Z06 looks great, and I'm buying one.
But, I also think the Stingray, and the Z51 look really good in their stock trim.
Why do the base or Z51 owners try to make their cars look like Z06s?
You've got a great car with options that actually differentiate your cars nicely. Heck, the wheels and spoilers look pretty good to me on base and Z51 models.
Down the road, isn't a true factory original Corvette even worth more than one which has unique modifications?
I know for me, at least, when I see a car that has modifications, my first thoughts turn to "what else has been modified that I can't see?" or "has this thing been raced to death and had to have changes made to mask what went wrong?"
Just asking, not trying to start any crazy arguments about personal preferences. Just curious about why you want a really nice car already to look like something it isn't?

I believe that it is the nature of the beast, the need to mod. Make it more personalized. I like the cars the way they were designed and have no need to alter it, but what others have done is appealing also.
I for one want my Stingray to look stock, and my mods have been small, chrome strip blacked out and Z51 stabilizer kit.
Because the car has mods on it does not mean that it has been beat to death. Even the guys that flog the car at the strip or track take good care of their machines.
And there are probably a few that are doing it to make the car look more aggressive, somewhat like the Z06. Kind of faux fast, as if the Stingray wasn't fast enough.

Jeep's, Harley's, Vette's...stock is boring...modding is fun

I got the following exterior mods on my 2015 C7 Z51:
C7 Carbon CF front lip
C7 Carbon CF rocker blades
WeaponX CF rear diffuser/fascia
Not sure if this is "trying" to look like a C7Z since the mods are fairly close to the CFZ option on the car (excluding the rear diffuser/fascia).
Only mod I will do to make it look like a C7Z is putting a C7Z grill on. Why? Because there is no chrome and I think it looks better. Good enough reason for me. As for somebody thinking it's been driven hard, think what you want. At the end of the day these cars have 450+ hp, what were they built for?

I'm just curious because if you're talking about splitter and side skirts those are now options on the 2016 model.
The C6 Grand Sport looks just like a C6 Z06. Just sayin...

They were one 2015 as well

I bought a non-Z51, because I did not want to spend that kind of money for the Z06, plus I did not need that kind of power on USA roads. I already have a 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition that is supercharged. I also own a 2014 Porsche Cayman 981.
I decided to go with the Corvette Stingray 1LT and found exactly what I wanted off a dealers lot with ZF1 Appearance Pkg that was available for the 2015 model. The C7 also had the nice 19" & 20" 5 multispoke chrome wheels and tires which I wanted.
I simply added the OEM GM Front Splitter as well as a set of C7Carbon side skirts. I added some window tint because of the extreme heat here in Southern New Mexico, added the OEM GM Splash Guards. I installed all the extras myself, except the window tint and I must say this C7 of my mine looks pretty darn good. I have approximately $57,400 into the C7. Thus, I saved almost $40,000 over a $97,000 priced Z06. Maybe I saved more as I see some Z06's priced over $100,000.
I find that the Corvette C7 Stingray is an outstanding value for what you get in a so-called base model. I didn't have to spend $97,000 to get the looks of a fine American sports car nor did I have to sacrifice any performance with the LT1 6.2L V8 engine. This baby has more power than I would ever need. The A8 tranny is great and if I want to play I can use the paddle shifters for extra excitement. This C7 is a head turner for sure. I get so many compliments on this car.
I never had the intent with these extras or mods to make it look like a Z06. But I do believe this $57,400 Corvette C7 looks just as good as a Z06.

Oh heck no.
Hey, they're all Stingrays. My GM Workbench order states it is a Stingray Z06, even.
I was just curious about changing the looks. I like the stock look on each variant. It's a compliment to Chevrolet Corvette designers that the stock vehicles look so good.

I personally don't get the hype about the Z06 looks. The base car looks cleaner to me.
P.S. I really can't stand the clear taillights either. On a 80K-110K car you think they would at least offer the red ones as an option.

Count me in as preferring the base models clean lines without spoiler. In fact that's what I ordered. I like the Z06 too. It's all good! They're all C7's!

I'll take the rear fascia from a C6Z, and I'll put that on my new 2016 Z06!
It's brilliant! I'll have red rear tail lights AND they'll be round!
I like it! I think this has legs!

I do think the base C7 looks good as is, but I have no issues with someone who does some tasteful mods to the car either. The Z06 grille, fender vents, splitter, etc. all enhance an already nice looking ride.
