C7 Hertz Edition
Has anybody bought one of these? I was looking for a used C7 and found a yellow coupe 3LT loaded with 13,000 miles. The dash plaque on the console says Hertz Edition 45/75. I liked the car until I found out it was a rental.

Maybe you can get an idea of potential abuse put on it by the engine rev counter. To compare, I DD mine in traffic, have over 15k miles, and my rev counter is at:
465.1 Engine Hours
3552 Revs/10000
That puts my average RPM at 1272.8
Having said that, I'd say the above formula will only give an idea of abuse if it is SIGNIFICANTLY higher, because honestly I imagine most renters spend a ton of time cruising and that would offset the hard driving.
I do recall a few C6 owners on here who had a ZHZ and they loved the things. If you are really worried about it can you find a trusted mechanic to give it the once over?

I remember way back when....
Hertz offered a special version of the 1966 Shelby GT350. Green w/ gold stripes, IIRC. Apparently a lot of them got rented Friday through Sunday, and came back with holes under the carpet where the roll bar had been installed.

... this and the original numbers (IIRC) are displayed on the main screen if you cycle down on the vehicle info sub section.

If the price is right and everything checks out go for it. I would say most Corvettes are driven hard as they are designed to do.

I imagine some people rent them to see if they want to purchase A new one.If that's the case
You can believe A few people put it through it's paces.I mean being you can track it it might
As well be A race car.It has A rev limiter so they couldn't over rev it.

I agree that if the price is right and the car checks out OK, go for it.

Shelby and Hertz offered the rent a racer again in 2007 and all the cars have appreciated in value regardless of miles and abuse.
1966 version.

Drifting
Unless someone drives around continuously at 5000 RPM(or a similar high RPM) starting at zero miles for the life of the car, this info is useless. When you consider total revs on a car with 12000 miles, a few high rpm runs are only a blip on the radar.

I'd never buy a previous rental. People have very little consideration for them and tend to drive them as they never would their personal vehicle.
I don't care how amazing the deal is, IMO there is absolutely no way I would buy that car.
That's my opinion, and you know what they say about those.

I worked at a car rental place and the Corvette's were beat to death and not that well maintained. Oil change intervals of over 15,000 miles were done and the DIC was reset even without an oil change. At times when a rental reservation came in there was NO time to get an oil change. A car out of service is lost $$ so they would just reset the DIC and do the oil change whenever the car was not returned
WOT on cold engines, donuts in parking lots, curb rash, smoking inside the car, spilled food/drinks, bottoming out, John Force burnouts, etc.
The rental cars get really cleaned out and a fluid change PRIOR to being sold on the open market. Unless you do cylinder leak down tests and major drivetrain inspections, you can't tell how rough these cars were driven and maintained.
With that being said, I would NEVER buy a rental Vette. People drive and beat the car like it is stolen.
This is a rental Vette and this act is done dozens of times over the course of its rental life:

The YOUNGER Corvette owners < 50 years old, tend to drive them hard but not too hard. The < 40 crowd tends to drive them even harder and if someone is lucky to own one while they are in their 20's and 30's, look out.
The RENTAL Corvettes are driven very hard. They get abused by everyone who rents them.
When you OWN a car like that you will take care of it. When you RENT a car like that you beat on it like there is no tomorrow.
