2016 Corvette Price Increase? Not technically, but...
GM has announced a price increase on the 2016 Corvette, but it's different than what you've seen in the past.
The MSRP has remained the same, but they have increased the dealer's cost on both the model and the options!
If you had an order in before 07/17/15, you are price protected.
How will this affect pricing? Even though the MSRP is the same, you will see less discount from the dealer for the dealer to make the same amount. GM Supplier and GM Employee Pricing will now be higher.
If you buy a car for a certain amount over invoice/cost, it will now be higher.
In my 22 years here, this is the first time I've seen GM take away dealer markup from the Corvette. Over the years I've seen them take it away from every car except Corvette and Cadillac and then they took it away from every Cadillac except Escalade.
Obviously, the 2016 Corvettes that are already on the ground or invoiced will not be effected and neither will any of the remaining 2015s, but going forward you will start seeing much smaller discounts off of MSRP.

So if my dealer agreed on 'supplier pricing' on my order sheet, received authorization code prior to July 15 (credit union), placed deposit and order on May 22, but because I still don't have a TPW (no invoice), I'll be subject to the price increase?

This is just another step in treating the dealers like the sales people have been treated in the past. I really had hoped that GM would learn something from the Bankruptcy. They have not. They are the same old GM ...

Not that these numbers are directly applicable, but when Chevy did this on the Camaro Gen5, just before the start of regular production, the Dealer Invoice for the 1LS (the lowest priced) went up about $650 and the Employee Price about $225. That was for a $22K plus destination fee. I expect the mathematics will hold true.
Thanks for he heads up Dave. I posted this because I am not certain you can post the specifics.

However, I can say it is more significant than that. And since it's a percentage increase on both the base price and each of the options, it adds up pretty quick.

Dave, So if I have a supplier pricing agreement, but my dealer hasn't shown me the pricing yet? Will I still get the earlier pricing, will the dealer be obligated to do this? Also I was never asked or supplied my supplier code to the dealer. I have it but he stated it wasn't needed at the moment.
this was an easier response:
I have a question; my order went to 2000 yesterday (srxb3d) when I ordered the car I was not shown pricing. I confirmed I will have supplier pricing. I asked about pricing yesterday and was informed I would have the supplier pricing until my car was invoiced or shortly before.
Is this true? Seems odd a dealership cannot provide a price of a car.
They should be able to get you a price pretty close, but not exact. The supplier price is printed on the invoice of the car once the car is built.
When the dealer builds a car in GM Order Workbench, it can show a supplier price, but that price does not take into account the advertising costs added into the invoice of the car since that amount can vary from region to region.

So if anyone cares to guess increase the dealer cost for options by 5% and figure the base Corvette dealer cost to be an additional $1500 to $1600.
As to GM not learning comments: what are you smoking?
Whatever it is, you have a moral obligation to share.

Dave, I changed the thread title to read 2016 Price Increase, not 2015 Price Increase since that seems to be the topic of your post.

Maybe GM is making room for rebates in the future. Probably not likely, but I just remember when they raised the prices on 2014 Silverados $2000 and offered a $2000 rebate the same day. For those of us who pay sales tax, it works out that we have to pay tax on an additional $2000. GM should realize that those tactics really tick off customers like myself. All that does is make the rebate look like a down payment for some who otherwise couldn't get financed while those of us who manage our money well and live within our means get dinged on the additional tax.
