Most see the glass half full. Doesn't that actually say something for the Stingray, when it takes a rare top of the line version of another car, such as Mustang, to achieve the same performance as the base model C7?

drove both
Ok I don't OWN either yet but corvette is on order !!
Was mustang all my life tell I drove a vette ...rented a 2015 mustang and test drove a vett like I wanted
You sit higher in stang better lower seating in vett head room is less in stang leg room also
Mustang is light on *** and will slide out turning on to wet roads
Hell of a lot of stans out there not so many vetts so if you have a don't "see me" thing get stang BUT IF you want to be SEEN in the coolest ride get a C7 corvette

I've owned two Mustangs, and three Vettes. There really is no comparison.

There are a few good replies, but mostly replies from people who I'd bet lots of money have never driven the Mustang. Of course they are apples and oranges. Like that is a revelation? But the price difference is about 50%. Let's let that sink in....FIFTY PERCENT. That's a lot to pay to succumb to peer pressure.
If you really can comfortably afford the Corvette that is what I would buy, and so far I have owned seven of them. I've also owned a couple of Z28 Camaros (previous generation). Believe it or not, you can have just as much fun in the Mustang. When I used to take my Corvettes to the drag strip I actually had more fun talking to most Mustang owners than most Corvette owners. They were down to earth and very passionate and fun loving.

Too bad you are NOT in a position to buy a new car.Sounds like perhaps you yourself are an under performer.

This a weird comparison. The Mustang vs Camaro? Yeah. I get that. But a Corvette? Even in the Camaro comparison I would say the Chevy beats the Ford in almost every metric. Performance wise the Camaro is even on top despite being the older of the two currently. The new one will most likely continue being superior. The C7 is a whole nother level, and only gets compared because of its country of origin and similar iconic, and long running status to the two Pony cars

It a boils down to what makes you happy and what you are willing to spend. I have owned a 2003 Mustang GT, C6 and recently sold my 2012 Boss 302. I was looking for my replacement and went to the LA auto show and it was the first time seeing the C7 in person. I knew what car I was going to get. Jult 4th, I bought my 2015 Artic White off the showroom floor. I have no regrets sell my BOSS 302.

Nobody loves Mustangs more than I do, I've had at least 30-40 of them.
I have to tell you, there is no comparison between the C7 and the new Mustang. I've also had many C4s, C5s, and C6s. The C7 is spectacular.
I traded in my 2011 Shelby GT500 Convertible with 600rwhp for my 2014 C7 Convertible, I've never missed the Shelby, and the Shelby was a great car.

Almost bought a mustang gt vert yesterday, loaded for $42000
Been looking at c 7 verts for over two years and used to own c6
But thought I would be thrifty
But am having second thoughts
2 LT with nav is probably closest comparison and even with good discounts probably looking at least $18000 difference
Most Mustang forum owners agree the C7 is a better car but $20000 better?

I have owned a Mustang and several corvettes. The C7 is, by far, the best choice. Sure, it may cost more, but it is the best bang for your buck for any comparable vehicle. If you purchase a Mustang, be prepared to continually look at the rear end of the C7.

So true. Anything less than the cost of a Vette isn't worthy of comparison and anything more expensive than a Vette is an overpriced POS.

The new GT 350 and 350R are going to be sweet, I highly doubt you will find them for MSRP so saying they are going to be cheaper then a base corvette will probably be incorrect. The flat plane V8 sounds awesome.
