Default 18 miles after I bought my 2015 C7, it's on a wrecker

The super short version is this:
-This is my 1st new Corvette
-Saleswoman blew me off and did not do a delivery or walk around
-I drove it straight home (18 miles) and began smelling gas
-Strong smell made me nauseous
-Parked in my drive way for around 1-2 hours and noticed a substantial gas leak dripping from under the car. Pretty good sized puddle.
-Towed back to dealership
-Bad o-ring on tank
-Cracked plastic module that the o-ring goes into on the tank

Anyone else ever hear of this type of problem on a new Corvette?

4 days and I still don't have my car.

You had a shotty salesman so you want to return your car?

Who cares about the dealership or the salesman. The leak in your car is pretty insignificant, and can be repaired 100% without any serious work.

Enjoy your car. You shouldn't have bought it if you weren't going to enjoy it.

They will fix it, you ain't getting a new car.

Report the salesperson to the sales manager, tell him you're gonna burn them on the delivery survey, ask him what they can do about it. You have a bargaining chip now.

That sucks.

BUT DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE

Your car does NOT qualify for a lemon law buyback, that is laughable.

The dealership will fix the bad seal..............end of story.

You just have crappy luck, it's a no big deal repair.

It is a car, new or not some will have issues.

First I have heard of the gas leak problem. Should be an easy fix though.

Sorry for your bad luck. Make Chevrolet Customer Care aware of your concern so they have a chance to help.

That's what warrentys are for. Get it fixed. Find another salesman who is knowledgeable about Corvettes and let him give you a good orientation on the car.

Go with this, the ball is in your court.
Sorry that your salesperson blew you off, but it happens, after all it is a Chevy dealership. You will enjoy your new car after the minor repair is done.

Yes it was one of many problems with the C5. Strange how old problems pop back up!

This is laughable. All Lemon Laws are predicated on giving the dealer a (several) chances to fix an issue. This is minor and has nothing to do with your salesman or maybe even the dealer if it wasn't evident to the OP when he drove the car off the lot.

I feel for you brother. I have owned vettes for 20 years without serious issues. They were all great cars that I bought used. The C7 was my first new one and I think the one I got has bad Karma as I had a similar experiences: crappy stealership experience, horrible sales people which caused cars sold out from under me, car delivered damaged, 100 miles and a new tranny was required, repair boondoggles remedied just before I could Lemon Law it. Now I am on notice that I may be layed off. I think some of these cars just have bad juju! Maybe GM has a witch doctor on the assembly line?

But once it is fixed, it is a great car - if I can keep my job. Oh well, overseas has dangerous unemployment problems and the Gooberment wants to help them. They will fix your car. One tip I you did not know, when you fill up the gas tank, when the pump stops - don't put in a drop more!

Before you pick up your car, I would call the sales manager and explain to him/her that your sales person did not do the proper delivery walk around. Maybe he can ask someone else to show you around the car. This is important especially with all of the electronics in the car. Even so, today I would also download the electronic version of the owners manual and read it. Even with a 20 minute orientation, you will not retain everything about the features of this car. It is very important that you know stuff like how to get in and out of the car in the event of a battery failure, how to change the look of the gauges, how to adjust HUD, etc.

Assuming the gas leak is your only problem, you will love this car. Enjoy it.

Default I appreciate the answers to my question about the leak occurrence

Thank you to those that commented about the gas leak issue. Was really curious if this was a common occurrence or not. The Manager at this particular dealership told me that GM told him they have been seeing several cases of the gas leak this week.

Believe me, I plan on enjoying the car and I know I will. But understand that as a first time buyer of such an awesome car, I'm extremely disappointed about the leak. I don't chalk it up to bad luck because I'm generally a pretty lucky guy. Things happen, I get it, I'm just not happy about it. Truth be told, none of you would be happy about that.

As far as returning it, I know I can't return it, the deal is done. Only reason I'd want to, is to take the sale away from this dealership and go to a better qualified, reputable dealership.

Then the comment- "you shouldn't have bought it if you weren't going to enjoy it". What are you talking about? Of course I'm going to enjoy it, that's why I spent the loot to buy it. I, like any normal dude, don't enjoy the fact that it's already getting warranty repairs after only 18 miles and I didn't like the way the saleswoman blew me off. Thats the stuff I'm aggravated with; doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy the hell out of this car.

I filed the complaint with GM on Monday. Survey will reflect the sale.
