Can't get to top speed :(
Although I havnt tried it I too have quoted the 190 number when asked top speed. I have read that a couple of places.
Here is a link to a GM employee discussing the features of the c7 stingray and demonstrating a drive to 300 km which equates to 186.41 mph. He was in fifth gear and does not appear to have maxed out at that speed but rather stopped at 300 and started to slow. He was not redlined.
I don't need to go that fast but I do want to give accurate info if someone asks me about the cars limits.

kotic--
be careful--you'll get yourself killed trying to run that fast on the highway. There's a very cool video on he web showing a prof driver "piloting" a new C7 on a new and as yet unopened section of turnpike beltway in Houston. After several floor-boarded miles he's able to achieve 201mph---std Z51 Hennessey Corvette. The video is filmed with several cameras(various angles) and documented by several methods including including some type of gps recording receiver as well as Texas highway patrolman along highway monitoring with radar on. Very interesting(and somewhat scary) to watch.

There are lots of autobahn stretches with no speed limit. From my base all the way to nurburgring its pretty much unlimited (about 2hour drive). There are many, many fast cars in germany. Yes, during work day u will mostly see the little cars and plain wagons, but at night and on weekends germans pull out their toys. Even on my base there are tons and tons of people that have super fast cars.
Honestly, on a good road 180-190 is not that fast. In a proper car 200 is not that bad either. You have to understand that in US people are brain washed about speeding to keep the speed limits low and for cops to give out tickets (thus funding whatever new fountain the city wants to build). In a proper car, these speeds are not that scary. Once i hAve internet at home ill upload vids from my pdr

Every car is going to top out a little different from another. I really wouldn't complain over 10mph. I should think 10mph would be within a pretty standard acceptable variance for outside temperature, head wind speed, tire condition etc. Let's now get to the 1100 miles part, it's not broken in at that mileage and you shouldn't be pushing a drive train with that few miles to its limits until about 5000 miles. I can clearly tell you what's wrong now but you ain't gonna like my answer.

That car has 600 plus HP with nitrous. Apples and oranges. Although that's what he will need if he wants to run 190 plus.

Our highways are also not built to the standards of a german autobahn. Our highways are **** compared to what you have there.
Thanks for trying though.
oh, you probably have a ****ed up corvette... maybe a lemon?

Are you comparing that white C7 to a stock Z06? I've owned both and I can tell you that other than top speed, which you wouldn't to try in a Z06 because it's so unstable at it's top speed that it wouldn't even stay on the road.C7 Stingrays do EVERYTHING better than a C6Z. Can you spell everything? I'll help you..E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.

You might want to keep buying and selling C7's til you get one that will do 190.I'm pretty sure that after you go thru 2 or 3 of them you'll find one that will get there.
For all engines built the same, some are A little slower or faster than the others.

BS. Probably need 100 hp to get from 180 to 190.

Sounds like your car is a lemon. Take it back and demand a refund!
