'14/'15 Manual Hatch Latch vs '16 Electric Hatch Latch

Closing the hatch on my 15 is not an issue--built the last week of the model year. The hard-to-close hatch must have been an issue, but there is no need for an electric assist.

And certainly even you are familiar with the fact that the memory wire vent simply isn't large enough to release the pressure build-up in the interior, and that many owners who have perfectly functioning memory wire vents have hatches that don't close properly.

It really bums me out when the boys and girls that designed the C7 didn't bother to read the memo "Things learned" from the C6

Based solely on this, do we have another failed GM design attempt to get a C7 hatch to properly latch without opening doors, slamming the hatch, or having to push down on it to get it to close by itself?

Thank you for posting that info as your findings are very interesting. That being the case, the retro fit may indeed be worthless. Here are the results of the investigation I did into the retrofit. I was not layed off in the last round on Friday so for now I get to keep my C7. I planned on trying to get the '16 latch and see if a retrofit was feasible - but maybe with your findings I won't bother. Here are my findings:

"Happiness is an (Air) Tight Vette!" Glad that robot putting on seem sealer I see in the video's didn't run out on our cars! Maybe that's why I don't need to put in sound deadening!!

Mine rarely closes completely with the windows up. Fortunately don't use the hatch enough for it to be frustrating. I now keep a door open when closing the hatch. Just a small quirk I can live with.

I find having to open a window or leave a door open kind of crude for a $70 k car.

My 14 & 15 won't close unless I push the hatch down. If I have the door open or window cracked the hatch closes nicely.
I am looking forward to the 16 solving this problem. I will let you know how mine goes when it arrives.
Thanks for your input.

I'd definitely be interested to know. I'm guessing you will still have to push the hatch down to activate the electric hatch. Best wishes!

On my 2016 I gently pull the hatch down and then use my elbow to engage the electric hatch. Works perfectly.
