Default Got my car on Friday

My Black on Red 2LT non-Z51 was delivered to me on Friday. I opted for the manual because I've always enjoyed driving manuals. I've owned 3 C3's previously included a 68 L79 and 6 Z28's including a real 69 and LT1 1970. The new C7 is scarey quick and I think it'll take me some time to get comfortable with the power and handling. Has anyone else felt this sense of caution?

Caution? A little. I've owned corvettes for over thirty years and I must admit that this one, above all the rest, takes my breath away every time I drive it. I personally believe that soon, either the government or the insurance companies are going to put a stop to this much horse power on normal public streets.

The C7 is a far stretch from a C3, so sure you will have a learning curve. Just resist the urge to test the power until you get past the break in period, and be sure to follow the guidelines in the manual, and it will serve you well for years to come.

You will quickly learn to adapt to the power and capabilities, as the new electronics and controls make them easy to drive.

My c7 is much faster than my previous vette, a 68 427/390 c3 as it has approx 180 more hp when comparing net hp to net hp.

What is the recommended breakin period? My sales guy spent an hour going over the cat and never mentioned the break in period.

Keep it under 4,500 RPM for first 500 miles.

Every time I get into mine. An ounce of respect is worth a pound of regret.

I drove about 30 miles today, mostly freeway. It's amazing how at 70 Mph in 7th that the tach is about 1,500 RPM. I was reluctant to use 7th but it worked out fine. I drove in touring mode on the highway and engaged "rev match" most of the day. Not sure what difference prev match makes. It was a good day.

If you didn't know about the break-in limits or what rev matching does, maybe you should read the manual a bit more or do some research on a car before just buying it and trusting the sales guy to teach you every possible thing you need to know about it at delivery.
