I was told that it usually gets assigned a week before the car is produced. I guess I'll find out if that's true in a couple of days.

I asked yesterday on chat if the VIN was available yet and was told there would be no further update until the car was produced as well. Oh well I'll keep bugging them every other day. The weather is finally nice in Chicago!!

Got my VIN today! 6501. You guys should be able to, or be really close to getting them too I would imagine.

Can anyone tell me what the advantage is to having your VIN in advance?

There isn't any. Mine tells me I will have the 6,501 Corvette built for the 2016 model year. I suppose you could do all the insurance set up and what not, but I'm not gonna worry about that now.

How'd you get it? From your dealer or chevy chat?

That's probably all they can see. Their system seems to be pretty limited so it wouldn't surprise me if VINs don't show up for them until the status changes to 3800.

I didn't realize until today there was a difference between buyers tour and museum delivery. I guess when you're just getting museum delivery they don't get the extra info...or they just don't have the info yet.

They sent me a few emails now about when my car will be 'at trim' (about to start) to finish time so I can plan my trip. Turns out Bowling Green isn't super easy to get to from SF.

Rooster, thanks for the info. Sounds like you are going to have an epic time! Completely jealous that you will see your baby before I can see mine.

Thanks, I hope they get to everyone's cars as quickly as they can! At least the journey is a lot shorter now with a build date.

How did you find out what day it's being built? All I can get out of Chevy chat is the TPW and they said no further update until it's built.

Congratulations. Are you driving it home after your museum delivery? I set my museum delivery for October 1st and then driving it back to Calif
