Navigation time estimates way off!
As an example, on Sunday I was traveling back home from my daughter's house on a trip that takes about 5 hours, the Nav estimated the arrival time in 6 hours and 53 minutes. We drove the route the Nav laid out, only drove no more than 7 mph over the speed limit and took three short breaks. It has consistently been way off (over) on estimated time to destination. The same is true for my 2014 Silverado PU.
My 2007 Z06 had a different Nav system that used Discs which had to be updated periodically, but the destination times were pretty accurate.
I can't be the only guy who has noticed this issue. I don't see that it is possible to make adjustments to improve its accuracy. Any thoughts?

You get used to it!
My Garmin would tell me to the minute when I would arrive....and be accurate. Apparently the GM does not recalculate as quickly was others.
My Honda Odyssey uses the option of a phone number to get to your location. This is really slick!!!!!

I've seen it particularly on back roads for some reason, the time est has been out by 50% or more. Odd how my $100 Garmen is so accurate and this one can be so inaccurate at times. Something wrong in the software obviously.

My 2014 ATS is this way also and as my 11 year old daughter once observed even her grandfather would easily beat the time estimate. It does update as it gets closer but clearly these current Nav system estimates are designed around someone driving under the posted speed limits.
For me miles to destination is all I really care about.

I am used to it, and do the actual calculations in my head. I haven't traveled to any new places where I have no idea how long it should take, where this feature could really be useful. I am also curious how they can be so far off. I would love to talk to the person who actually does the programming. I guess I am supposed to take a half an hour break every hour.

I have mostly been using it on 2 lane roads.

I don't notice because I never use it. While it's certainly not bad, Google Maps is just so far ahead of it that I find no reason to use it. I really wish car manufacturers would stop bundling their crappy second tier systems with cars and just have connectivity with Android and iOS to integrate the phone navigation.
I know a lot of cars already do this, but come on now it should have been mainstream years ago.

I just use Waze most of the time...It is almost 100% accurate on ETA...plus it has great social networking features letting you know, traffic, police, hazards, etc..

It uses a combination of current route, speed limits and dead reckoning.
It assumes the current route.
It assumes that you will obey the speed limit or subsequent segments (ha ha ha).
It uses current speed and distance remaining to the next turn.
The C6 navigation system is almost all dead reckoning.

My wife and I noticed this problem on our 7,900 mile coast to coast trip. The ETA estimates were off by laughable amounts, for example, about 7 hours left on a 250 mile remaining distance!

I must have the ONLY one that works correctly...Picked my Vert up at the NCM .... Had my Garmin Nuvi with me for the trip from the Nashville Airport to the NCM....used them BOTH on the trip back to Florida and they were exactly the same instantly....I always used both because of my experiences with my C6 Nav unit...I've used it alot since I got back to FL and found it to be spot on every time....it even adjusts the time when you wait for those 5 min traffic lights we have here. Now I leave my Garmin in my 4x4 permanently

That said, 5 minutes seems like a long time. My Garmin boots up in a minute or less.
