Default OnStar Subscription

Yesterday I cancelled my On Star trial subscription however, all the lights on the rear view mirror are still active. I called them and they confirmed that it was cancelled Should these lights not have gone out and if not is there any way to disable them. Thanks

Lights will stay on as you can call and reactivate. You are not disconnected from Onstar just not subscribed to any services.

I have read where some others have put a small piece of black tape across the lights to cover them up.

Even without a subscription, won't they be notified immediately of an accident requiring the air bags being deployed?

Update, 24hrs after cancelling On Star all lights functioning, today all lights are now off with the exception of the center blue light which is now reduced in intensity to the point that you almost don't see it. I understand that light is still active for purposes of re signing up if you care to do so in the future. Thanks for comments.

Interesting - I let the OnStar subscription expire on my DD on 9/3/15. Will have to see what the lights on the mirror look like now.

My car is 2 weeks old, when I started the car about an hour ago ON-STAR came on with a courtesy message and then stayed on. Can anyone tell me how to shut it off when this happens?

What at least one person did was cut a couple of circles out of electrical tape with a hole punch, and then cover just the lights with those circles. Probably much more discreet than a big piece of tape.
