We are planning the same trip only from north central Arkansas in the spring. Two convertibles, one 2012 Grand Sport and my 2014. I would appreciate any advice on packing however. My friend is a "top always down" kind of guy but I just don't think we can get all of the necessary luggage in the truck with the divider in the top down position. Have fun, watch out for the buffaloes and bears, they don't respect the concept of "look, don't touch"!!!

Yeah I was up there 3 or 4 wks ago. That section of road is now covered over by milled asphalt so the mud and dust is for the most part gone. My tour is in yellowstone 9/10, 11, 12. The road is due to be paved just after that time. The bison in Hayden Valley were pretty intense and stood around on the roads. The park rangers were having to move them off the roads with their cars.

Have a safe, fun trip! If you haven't been thru the Teton's, Jackson, etc. before, you're in for a real treat. They're only about 5 hours from us, so we head up there every couple of years.
Someone suggested you detour to see Bryce, and I definitely recommend it. I really like Zion too, but if I had to choose only one, I'd take Bryce. Really nice. There are some long stretches of 80mph in Utah too.
We leave in two weeks for a trip thru Idaho, Washington, BC, and Oregon. We've done this for 8 years in a row. I find really cool places to stay, don't tell the wife where we're going - just how long and what kinds of clothes to pack. She loves it, and I have fun putting it together. Found some really cool places too. Removes sufficient demerits that she signs up for another year each time. First time taking a 2 seater, so packing is different but we have a coupe so it works pretty well. You should have plenty of top down weather too. We expect pics!!

we just got back from a 7000 mile trip to Beartooth Pass, Yellowstone,Glacier,Calgary,Banff, the beaches of Oregon(gorgeous).
Do not miss traveling Beartooth from outside Billings down to the east entrance to Yellowstone. It is a road of a lifetime.
Oh yeah, wear the same clothes for several days: it saves space !!

Most of our travel clothes are of the lightweight moisture wicking variety.
Wash in the sink at night and dry the next morning. One change, and one slightly nicer ensemble for dinner out.
Will ship more bulky items of limited use, like fishing gear.
May consider a trunk mounted rack. Not this trip.

Southern Utah's National Parks
Hello Iowa,
Fabulous itinerary.
The amazing National Parks in southern Utah are all worth a visit.
Bryce Canyon NP has been mentioned, but also Arches NP is a magical place.
And if you drift further south in AZ, check out the history and beauty of Bisbee, AZ.
Enjoy.

Sounds brave. Wife and I are heading west to the lower states. I'm giving up a much wanted tour of Chaco Canyon due to the 20+ miles of gravel road. Just don't feel brave enough. It was a tough decision, vacation in the new Vette or take the Nissan and see Chaco Canyon. The Vette won out in a quick decision, like snatching off a bandaid.
Drive the Vette.

Car came off gravel roads fine, just covered in a ton of dust. We drove this car on roads 95% of Corvette owners wouldn't dare drive on. I just made up my mind I'm not saving this car for the next owner. During 3600 mile trip, I picked up 1 small chip on fender and 1 on roof. That was from the highway, I could here them hit when it happened. Overall, car still looks great!
But sometimes just driving down a divided four lane highway(US24 west of Manitou Springs, CO) can be "challenging".

Sounds like a great trip and should be a blast in the Vette. Be safe and have fun.

Be very aware of the temps and rainfall on the days you're traveling at elevation. This time of year it may be raining and normal temps down below but a blizzard and freezing temps up high.
A few years ago I was in a 2 foot blizzard with my C5 in late August on the Beartooth. Road closed behind us but we made it to Red Lodge. Needless to say we didn't see much. Road was closed for two weeks.
You'll have a great trip!
