Mag Ride + Comp Seats worth $15,000?
Long time lurker and first time poster. I'm getting ready to purchase either a used '15 or a new '16 but have a dilemma.
Option 1) New 2016 = $68,000 with my employer discount:
Red on Red Z51 2LT
Black Rims
Magnetic Selective Ride Control
Carbon flash mirror, spoiler, and badge package
Competition seats
Carbon Fiber interior trim package
vs.
Option 2) Used 2015 = $53,000 with my employer discount (6k miles):
All the same options as above, except for the Mag Ride and Competition seats.
68K - 53K = $15k difference between my two options.
I've done a lot of research on the forums regarding how incredible the Magnetic Ride Control is when given the option to spec it with a new build. Unfortunately, the owner of the used car didn't get that memo. I've test driven the stingray about 7 times at local dealerships, but none of them had the Z51 packages on them so I couldn't get a feel for the stiffened Z51 suspension without mag ride to see if I could deal with it.
So for those of you who have magnetic ride control, those who have Z51 without mag ride, and those who have the competition seats, do you think it's worth a $15,000 premium?
This will be my daily driver. I'm 23, like driving fast within reason on public roads, and plan to rarely track the car.

It's kind of funny - those that paid the money for the magnetic ride are STRONG advocates for the value of that option. Those that did not order the magnetic ride (I'm one of them) generally have NO buyer's remorse. So, in my opinion, it's not necessary. You'll find strong opinions on both sides of that issue. I've owned 2 Z51 Vettes without magnetic ride and have never had any issues with the ride or handling of either.

Having magnetic ride on my C6 I was scared the C7 would not live up to my expectations without this option. GM convinced me at Carlisle to go with the standard Stingray suspension. Saved me thousands and I am perfectly happy with my decision.

I have mag on my Z51 and like the flexibility, my cousin has one without and it still rides/handles super. If I had it to do over again, I'd still order mag ride because I like the technology and flexibility. But either way you can't lose.
Wanted the comp seats to be for me, but they just didn't fit me well. I'm 6'2" 205, and found the GT seats better for me. Sure do like the look of the comp seats though. You might want to sit in both, drive them for a bit if you can, and be critical of how they both really fit you personally. Again, either are very good choices.
The used '15 looks like a really good deal. The C7 will definitely put a smile on your face every time you drive it.

If you want the comp seats and the MRC, get them....if you get the car without them, you will always be wishing you had gotten them...
I was going back and forth and whether or not to get the comp seats when I ordered my car, but I knew if I didn't, I would end up regretting the decision afterwards

To answer the question: No, mag ride and comp seats aren't worth anywhere near $15,000.

Have you tried out the Comp seats Self Made? I love the look of the Comp seats and I was set to get them, until I rode in them. Uncomfortable for me and my body type. Very tight fit, great for the track, not so much for a daily driver.
If you plan to take your C7 to the track a lot the Mag Ride is a must, if not its just a nice option.

Comparing the two vehicles that you mentioned, the $15k variance is going to get larger if you decide to go with the 16 once you drive it off of the dealers lot (depreciation). Someone has already taken most of that loss on the 15. You also have more of a warranty with the 15 since GM cut the coverage back on the 16. Good Luck with your decision.

If money is the issue...just wait until you find a 2015 with all the options you want including magnetic ride for not such a big price difference. In my opinion, I don't think the competition seats are worth the extra dollars although they do look nice and feel tighter but the magnetic ride control is a must have if getting the Z51 package.
