Default No proximity alarms when backing?

Ok, I searched but found nothing so here goes.

In my ZL1, when I was backing the display would show warnings and make an audible beep if I got too close to something but my C7's system doesn't do that.

Is it because my Vette is a 1LT? I couldn't find anything in the manual either - what am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

You can't tell how close you are with the camera?

It does take practice/and, or a spotter to get really precise. The line option does help.

I'm fine without them. I was just curious why the difference but the camera works fine.

Yes, odd that the C7's system does not have the beeps. The camera works well enough but with the addition of the sensors it would give an added bit of security.

I love the radar feature on my other vehicles, too bad the C7 doesn't have it. Hard to see anything with the camera or out the back with the top off and in particular on bright sunny days. Pretty sure that is when most C7's are driven. Would rather have it than a curb camera but both would be great.

Let me see, no info in the manual, no sensors located on the bumper and no reference when you did the overview as you bought the C7. Hmmmmm!!!!!!

Somewhat redundant systems. I'll take the camera over the radar sensors any day.

A dissenting voice I for one thing think that there are way too many things and reasons that make things beep and bong in new cars/trucks already. We need less crap not more!

Be a good driver and you do not need all that nanny stuff.

Hell at age 70 I have been driving and backing Vettes (all generations) and up to and including tractor trailers size vehicles all my life and never had a problem getting around or parking.

My Nissan truck and the Ford I had previously have both beepers and the camera. I actually do find the beepers quite useful in my truck and wouldn't mind having them in the C7.

But both vehicles I've had with the radar + beepers had the little blisters on the back for the sensors. I'm wondering if Chevy skipped them just because the styling/Design guys thought they would be ugly?

Well, I would not consider the camera a must have, but it sure does make my life easier when backing out of a parking spot in the parking garage at work where the aisles are narrow.

One last thing: A NHTSA regulation introduced in the spring of 2014 mandates that all manufacturers start phasing in backup cameras on all of their vehicles by the 2016 model year and have them on 100% of their vehicles by the 2018 MY. So its no surprise that you see them on more and more cars. They will be on 100% of new cars soon.

Personally, its an option I always said "why would I want that" until I actually had one. Then I figured out how nice it is to be able to see the ball on the truck and the hitch on the trailer and back directly into the correct position to hook up a trailer. Thats where the beepers are actually an annoyance cause you are backing up to something on purpose. But they can be turned off

As a person that has hooked up tractor trailers and many boat/ travel and general purpose trailers over the decades yes a camera would have made things a lot easier many times

As far as my 15 Vette or my wife's SUV I actuality forget they have cameras many (most) times and just back up the way I have done for decades. I'm well used to using mirrors and a good sense of distance!
My DD 4x4 truck is a few years old and does not have a camera system!

just to reiterate I fell there are just too many things in new cars that make things beep and bong. Worst part they will find new reasons to add more.

Well, like them or not every new vehicle sold in the US from 2018 on is going to have a camera. This came from a case a few years ago when a guy backed over and killed is small child with his SUV. The kid was playing in the driveway behind the SUV and could not be seen in the mirrors.

Nor do I need an automatic flush toilet. However whenever I leave a urinal and find it doesn't flush itself I think to myself 'man that's lame'. You sir sound like an old fogey who just wants things not to change.

Exactly. Who would want blisters all over their butt?
