Exhaust Upgrade
I am planning on purchasing a C7 after I sell my 2009 C6. My question is should I get the exhaust upgrade, please tell me what you think if you purchased it. Thanks

Here is my response to a similar thread.
My 2016 C7 has the npp option, and I also have the Borla exhaust made for this car. In one position it's in Touring (sound that is), and in the other position it's in the "S-Type" mode. I find the Touring sound is almost like a normal car - very quiet. The S-Type sound is just right. At 2500 rpm in 5th gear on the highway at 80 mph the cabin is completely quiet. However, when accelerating - especially above 3K rpm - it sounds great.
If I had to do it all over again, I would NOT order the npp option. The npp option is almost $1200, and the Borla exhaust for this option is about another $2,500, and then the install is a few hundred more. Instead I would get the standard exhaust and then order the Borla S-Type muffler. This would save a bunch of case, and IMHO is made for this car.

The exhaust is standard on Z51, a no brainer in my opinion.

I didn't plan to pay for the NPP until I test drove a Stingray, and heard it in action. It's wonderful! It is completely a matter of taste, however. There's no real performance advantage to it (you'll never notice a difference of 5 peak HP.) In addition to the sound, the pipes look way better, too.

If you get the Z51 package you get the NPP, if you get a standard Corvette order it. It is nicely integrated into the cars electronics. Loud when you want it loud and quiet when you want to sneak out of the neighborhood. Sum it up in two words. GET IT!

I didn't get the NPP on purpose. But if you do or don't have it and it's not on it sounds like an Impala.I went after market and it's fantastic. If you do get NPP get after market mufflers.
The stock mufflers even with NPP on is to quiet.

I got the NPP, because that's what came with the car, but I replaced it right away with B&B Bullets, which was what I had installed on my other two Vettes.
I had hoped that the NPP option would be loud enough, but I guess there's no going back. In fact, it turns out that the NPP on the Stingray is quieter than the NPP was on my Z06.
I would not order the NPP, but instead spend that money on an after market exhaust.

Have you considered a Harley, lotsa noise, no performance.

I think some of you are confusing noise with sound. You can by-pass the mufflers, drill holes in them or get the npp option. They all increase the noise level. However, if you are looking (or listening would be a better term) for a better sound, then I think you should consider something other than the stock npp exhaust. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have the Borla muffler for the npp option and I think the sound is a distinct improvement. I am not familiar with the other after market mufflers mentioned here, but I would listen to them all before deciding. Admittedly my muffler system was very expensive, but I enjoy it every day. What could be a better investment.

And if it's not loud enough, get a Borla X-pipe and delete the secondary cats. $500 installed.

NPP sounds magnificent. Plus I love the ability to dial in touring early in the morning, not wake my neighbors up, and then dial in sport to unleash the beast once I leave the garage. That alone makes NPP worth it to me over aftermarket options, it's highly integrated and controllable from the cockpit.

Mine came with Z51 package. If it didn't come with Z51 i would pay the money for it.
I have had different cars with tons of different systems. Been around the block.
The tone and volume of the NPP is VERY good for stock. I am not even planning on EVER changing it. Only thing i would ever touch is long tube headers. to pick up more volume.

My 16 has Z51 so came with NPP. On my other 4 Vettes, I always installed the B&B PRT system. This is the first Vette that I will be keeping the stock exhaust. Love the flexibility of the NPP and the sound. Just the right combination.
