Default Waited 3 long years, but finally did it

I've been lurking the last three years watching many of you order and take deliveries of your 2014s, then your 2015s, and even some of your 2016s. My wife thought I was obsessed. So I proved her right and placed my order this morning with Mr. Furman at Criswell.

Specifically, a 2016 2LT Z51 Coupe, Shark Gray, Kalahari, Comp Seats, Mag Ride, Carbon Badges, with standard silver-painted wheels and the painted roof.

Had a question for those who've ordered — when was your VIN assigned, was it when your order reached 3000?

Cheers!

My order hit 3000 yesterday and I don't have a TPW yet, so I would assume you get a VIN much later...

Good choice to order through Mike Furman; he's the best in the business. (And I'm a member of the business!)

I check my customers' order status regularly. For the most part, I'm not seeing VINs until the cars come off the line.

My car was just built on 9/11. I did the buyers tour and they had my vin a week before my tour date. That was the museum folks getting it though. It doesn't seem like chat or your dealer gets it until it gets produced. Congrats, that's going to be a nice looking ride!

My dealer, MacMulkin, said he wouldn't get the VIN# until it was made. However, I did R8C, and NCM (Shane) gave me my VIN# about 1.5 weeks before it hit the line. I called MacMulkin with the VIN# and they said they still didn't have access to it and wouldn't until it was off the line. So, someone knows the VIN# before it is made. I never figured out how.

I figured that would be the case. We'll just ask Mike for the VIN once the car is off the line. Thanks all!

Now for the loooong wait...

I have a Z51 with the silver wheels, and I think the paint they use doesn't stand up to the hot brake dust particles or they just chip easily. I think the black painted wheels have a more durable finish.

Mine are getting pitted pretty bad at the ends of the spokes like this thread:

I put my order in late May with Criswell, got a TPW of July 13, and the car was on the lot the next week... picked it up Aug 1.

Don't worry, it won't be long... BTW, when I bought it, I'd never even SAT in a C7, let alone drive one... and it has exceeded all my expectations... you will be very happy with your car.

My dealer had the vin about the time the car started down the line. I was able to track my car on the assembly line and knew the exact time it rolled off under it's on power. The info is available, most dealers are not really interested.
