2014-2015 Removable Roof Panel Noise Bulletin
#22
I've had my 2015 in several times for this to no avail. They did replace the front latches a couple months back but not the front locator pins. Hopefully this TSB will once and for all stop the creaking. Also noticed the last time I had the roof panel off, the set screw for adjusting the rear latch seems to be missing. I've attached a pic which shows the threaded hole where I think the set screw should be. Would appreciate when someone has their roof off if they would confirm that I'm missing the set screw. Thanks

Same here I had the dealer order and replace parts as per this tsb and car is completely quite.....finally...It took a long time trading input back and forth with the plant engineers from squeak and rattle, but they made this a priority and finally found the source of noise....thank you guys and .....(talon90) our mod. here for all your help!

thought it was the roof ...turned out to be passenger seatbelt ...tapping plastic near the door ....feel pretty dumb about that ..

The first 3 months I had no noise with the top. After I started removing the top, driving it, and putting it back on is when I started hearing the noise. I tried the grease, no joy. I knew it was coming from one of the strikers, so I took it off and wrapped electrical tape around each striker about 2-3 times. Any more than that then the striker won't fit in the hole. The idea is to have the striker fit snuggly into the hole where it won't move around. Worked perfectly. Noise stopped instantly. This was all before I saw the bulletin. By the looks of it, I am not sure what specifically the bulletin fixes. I'd be interested in finding out if bulletin actually fixes it.

My new parts are in, will soon get the updated parts installed.
I did fix my roof , tried some recommended fixes here but none worked, including greasing the pins, strikers and adding 0 rings. What I did find by taking some rubber bicycle inner tube , cutting a small 3/4" piece, then when closing the strikers on the roof together slipped the rubber between the two plastic parts as I closed them together. This binds the two pieces tightly and stops the slipping which leads to the creaking. The roof has not creaked or made any noise since, just finished a 1000km trip over bumpy roads, not a peep.

Just had mine done per the tsb a few days ago. Haven't had the high temps lately that would really set it off but so far not a sound. In fact it's so quite now it appears I have a rattle coming from the pass side rear speaker area.
Other than all the rattles I love this thing!

Thanks!
Sticky,
Thanks. I took my car to my dealer, and the fix worked wonderfully. This squeak was my only complaint about this $74k car.
My only advice is that people ensure the dealer has the correct parts. I took my car in the first time, only to find out they had to order the parts.
Thanks, again!

I have a feeling my car will be there longer than I want it to be. However, he at least has confirmed a loaner for me... which I understand (from other posts here) is not necessarily "the norm".

I test drove a 2009 C6 back in 2009. Dealer demo car at the time. The top creaked so bad I mentioned it to the new car sales manager when we got back to the dealer. He didn't care.
I have owned Corvettes since 1975 so I'm not new to t-tops and the like. We ordered a new 2009 C6. The top creaked something terrible. Tried every fix without success.
I can believe that Chevrolet knowing of the problem did nothing. Totally new car in the C7. Every opportunity to fix a known problem. Might cost another .10 per unit. My Exwife bought a 2008 C6 with a creaking top. I bought a 2014 Porsche Boxster and solved the problem.

Made my appt. for my annual inspection/Mobil 1 oil change/this TSB.
Service manager advised they are ordering the pins & strikers, that they are available in inventory, so we'll see on Oct. 29th.
As always, I learn everything about the C7 here on the forums.

Are the new pins white (nylon?) as compared to the old pins which are black? Had the fix supposedly done last week and the creaking is minimally improved. Still have black pins, wonder if the parts were actually changed!

Took my 14 c7 Vin#70 with 23000 miles to the local dealer for the roof fix only. There was some occasional popping when going over bumps and the back latch would rattle. It took a little over a week for the dealer to get the parts. The good news is there are now no rattles or pops.

I had the TSB work completed on 10/20. No noise at all since the repair was completed...first time the roof has been silent in months...
Here are a few pics from the install. Thanks to Corvette specialist Chuck Metts from Coughlin Chevrolet for allowing me to watch the install.

I have an appointment next Tuesday to repair mine. The dealer ordered from the parts list I provided via email, that document came from this thread, no need to take the car in up front.
The rubber tubing placed between the two pieces of the striker catch has worked extremely well for me so if for some reason this doesn't fix it I will just go back to putting the rubber between the left and right catches. It's just a small piece of rubber but it seems to stop the slipping between the two pieces which generates the noise as it move and slides when going over bumps.
Thanks for the pics on your repair !!
