Default Seat belt retainer

Anyone else have a problem with the seat belt coming out of the
retainer clip on the top of the seat back?
I really want it to stay put but I constantly have to reinsert it. It is bothersome. I could put some duct tape on it, but don't think I'll be happy with the look, any other suggestions.

See the manual.
It is only for short people.
If you want to keep it in anyway, some people have used shrink tubing to close the gap and it does not look to bad.

Per the owner's manual it is only to be used for small adults and children. All others leave the belt out.

On the conversation about seat belts, does anyone else have concern with the seat belt latch scratching the side of the seat?

If so, what are some of the alternatives?

Thanks, RoyC7

I'm fairly short, 5'9", so I used shrink tubing to close the gap as I am using the retainer clip. I like that it keeps the belt handy.

I'm also 5'9", but I have a 34" inseam, so I'm really short from the waist up . It stays in for me,but anytime Mrowc6 is in the seat, the seatbelt comes out of the guide.

Mine doesn't scratch the seat at all, but it does want to scratch the door frame . :-(

Yes if it comes out it gets lost on the side of the seat. I am 6'3" and I guess not supposed to use it. I will try some of the ideas expressed here, thanks.

As some have noted, the belt clip is designed for short folks. I tried using it for about a week, until someone on the forum pointed that fact out! I've had my C7 for 2 years this week and am happy not using it. I was trying to use it to have easier access to grab the belt to pull it over and buckle. However I have a better solution and since I got my car a year before GM offered "alternate software" to start an M7, I developed what I call a "multitask method!" I use two hands simultaneously to start the car. I get in with the seat in the exit position, all the way back and adjusted as high as possible (helps entry and exit.) Then I grab the seat belt with my right hand and with a finger on my left hand simultaneously push the #1 memory recall button. As the seat moves forward and down in the rear and tilted back, I buckle the belt. Starts fast with minimum movements and I'm not wasting my right hand to first push the start button only to have to push it again when the clutch is fully depressed. My C7 is a DD and I do not have the patience to push buttons in sequence as if I were starting the space shuttle!
I consider 5' 9" inches tall "normal height" and see no need to use the "short folks" belt clip! Also a young lady who uses the retainer posted her buckle hits the leather on the door or seat when not in the car and caused a small hole!
To each his own.

Put a piece of shrink wrap to cover the slot in the retainer and it won't come out anymore. Search is your friend and there are lots of good pictures on how to do it.

I stopped using it once I RTM. I find it much less annoying and out of the way now.

Vendors sell a plastic piece to snap onto the clip to retain the belt in it.

Eckler's has a part the is black and clips into the seat belt retainer and prevents it from popping out of the retainer. I think their part number is 398680 and their phone number is 800-327-4868.

I am 6', but hated having the belt come out of the clip. In my case, the clip would get jammed when I shut the door and chip the plastic trim.

I think the manual was written mainly for coupes. The belt emerges higher on the pillar. On the vert, the belt emerges lower and I really prefer locking it in. (Personally, I like the heat-shrink tubing option the best to lock it in.)

I didn't like where the retainer held the belt so I removed both belts from the retainers on the seats.

I'm 5'-8" and my wife is 5'-6", casting another vote for heat-shrink tubing. $3.96 at Home Depot, plus 15 minutes with a hair dryer. It's black in color, so I never notice it after installation.

OK, I'm going to say it.

My seatbelt was whacking the crap out of the door jamb before, but doesn't anymore. It looks factory and is worth every penny, IMO.

I'm 5'-8', not really that short. However, I find if the seatbelt is not in the clip then it irritates my neck. I don't care what the manual says, outside of the clip it's irritating so I bought a clip that keeps the belt in seat clip.

These work great! No more issue with them coming out of the guide.
