The issues with the A8 seems to be growing and growing. The main issues alot of people have shared relate to periodic extremely hard down shifting when daily driving and overheating when tracking the car. My experience with pretty much all of the GM automatic transmissions I have own has been problematic to say the least.

The A8 is faster in a straight line, but I got the M7 to avoid the A8 automatic issues you hear about constantly. Alot of the people who speak highly of the A8 don't have very many miles on their car. Search the forum and you will see post after post of A8 issues.

I also have 2800 miles on my C7 A8 and love it. averaged 29.1 MPG on a trip to Branson, MO last month and no problems with trans. and love the acceleration.

So this pertains to the A8 only. No complaints with hard downshifting in the 2014 A6?

Is the A8 tranny on the 15 worth losing 3LT & FE4?

Mileage hopefully about the same under 5k
My 14 has A6 Z51 3LT FE4 NPP VERT Carbon fiber interior ETC. I personally would not trade for a less optioned 15 because I like my cars with as many options the car can have but that is just my HONEST OPINION. I would never trade up a year or two just for the A8 over the A6 unless the A8 car had every option my 2014 A6 has but once again that is just my HONEST OPINION! Good luck with your search and I am sure someone out there has a loaded 2015 with all the options you are looking for about the same price as a loaded 2014. Check auto trader and cars.com and you will see plenty of similar optioned cars on 2014 and 2015 C7's for about the same price. Just be patient !

IMO and if I were you I'd go with the fully optioned '14 over the lower optioned '15 for the same price. The A6/A8 decision is moot. The A6 will do anything you want it to do off the track.

Thanks guys, I am leaning this way also. The 14 has red interior and I definitely like how the 3LT interior wraps the red accents on the door panels and dash.
It also has the Black Hood Stinger which I love, an easy add on I know but doesn't seem to be on that many 14 or 15 models. Hopefully will try and get something done this week...

https://www.corvetteforum.com/articl...heating-issue/

Tadge states:
The Z06 Automatic transmission put in “Drive” selects the lowest-possible gear ratio for the best acceleration, and because it has eight closely-spaced ratios, it typically runs higher-average RPM than the manual. This optimizes lap time performance, but also taxes the engine oil and coolant more for any given track. So the automatic has the capability to run faster laps than the manual, but thermal limitations are reached more quickly. Customers who are planning to run extended track-day sessions at “professional” speeds, are advised to go with the manual transmission, or to paddle shift the automatic and select higher gears when conditions warrant it.

Along with all the electronics the tranny was a primary factor in my decision to buy an extended warranty for my C7 as I do plan to keep it more than 5 years. I only have 1700 miles on mine but the only issue I have experienced is an occasional hard downshift to 1st gear when coming to a stop but this has only happened a few times early on and only when the car has been sitting overnight and the first time I come to a stop. Hasn't happened the last several times I drove it so I am hoping it is not going to be a problem.
