Convertible owners-please chime in.
ok I own a 2012 Convertible Camaro 2SS/RS which is being bought back by GM for the top issues.
I am planning on ordering a C7 as the replacement.
I want to know if anyone has had any top related issues on the 'Vette, and if so what they are.
also any comments, good or bad about the Convertible in general.
I love rag tops, and am not really a fan of having to exit the vehicle to remove and store the Targa top, so if the C7 convertible is solid that is my preference.

Not a convertible owner, but there have been some isolated reports on the forum of top problems. I remember one where the rear window shattered and a couple of issues with the up/down operation not working correctly. That said, these seem to be isolated issues with no widespread issues reported.

The C7 is perfect. Just sold my C6 convertible and loved it. The C7 takes it to a whole new level!

those I can deal with, stuff happens.
the issue with the Camaro tops is well known. Personally I have had 4 tops replaced since I bought the car in 2012, with under 30,000 miles and the newest top is only 6 weeks old and already is showing the same issue, a rub mark (which will turn into a hole within 5k-7K miles) as well as some new issues related to alignment as a result of the repair.

I have owned a 2012 Camaro vert pace car, 2011 C6 4LT Corvette Vert and now a 2015 Z06 vert. I love them all, only had issues after my C6 went in for Convertible top UPDATE .....all were great, we go topless every chance we get, minor wrinkles yes but it's a rag top....don't worry about it

I have a 2005 Vert with thousands of cycles and 215,000 miles on it with no problem.
I have a 2014 Vert with hundreds of cycles and 35,000 miles on it, and so far so good!
There seem to be only a few isolated issues throughout the generations, and the top is one of the most reliable parts of a Vette.

wrinkles aren't a problem, only time my top is up is when it is raining (doesn't happen in Socal very much) or the car is parked.
wear holes and water leaking is an issue though.

That is what I want to hear. . a shame GM couldn't transfer that to the Gen5 Camaros.

Mine has been perfect (2015), an added bonus is how little wind buffeting with the top down. The C7 was designed first as a convertible and that has really paid off in the ride, operation and the look.

Safety Car
What was the issue with your Camaro convertible top? I drive my C7 vert daily and every chance I get I drop the top. Been doing it now for almost two years with no issues whatsoever. The top is automatic and can be let down, or up, below 30mph. No issues whatsoever at this time.

I've had 4 tops, 2 5th bows, and 1 new top motor since 10-2012.
in addition the shop managed to put a screw driver through a speaker, crack/break off the connecting tabs on all but one of the rear seat panels, cause a hydraulic leak in the top motor which caused it to burn up, not sure how they managed to do that, but it occurred the day after I got the car back from the first top repair.
They also managed to scratch my car in several places, curb a wheel, damage a tail light, and break the USB connector in the center console during their repairs (apparently they had an ipod or similar connected and yanked on the cord snapping off the plastic tongue inside the usb connector).
Oh and in trying to be nice and wash and detail the car they sprayed something on my Brembo calipers that caused the powder coat to etch and peel, then they nicely offered to re-powder coat the calipers but didn't assemble them correctly and I blew an o-ring seal on the highway and got brake fluid all over the wheel which caused the clear coat on the wheel to get damaged and peel off.

Only issue
Sadly, I have to put the top up when it rains. The speed limit in TX is only 85 . . . . . . . .

^^^ Egads, I knew there was some reason I didn't get a convertible Camaro.
Just picked up a Z06 vert Saturday and was the only one in town running around with the top down in 65-degree weather. Turn on the seat heat, crank the thermostat to 80, and stay comfy cozy while laughing at everybody else in their cages. I took a couple of friends for their first rides, and conversation is possible with slightly above normal voices at highway speed.
No problems with top operation so far, which is good, because 102,000 miles of targa roof on/off cycles with my C6 coupe, sometimes four times in one day, got old. Go with the Z06 if you can, because even under 3500rpm for break-in, the exhaust bark with open valves and top down is too good to be true, except it's true. Test drive one and see, but chances are, you'll make the move.

nope, can't do the Z06, >$40K above my desired price range,
even @ ~$70,000 I will be breaking my golden rule of buying a vehicle that costs more than my 3 month net income, but @ nearly 50 I have decided to have my mid-life crisis, at least according to my wife.

2014 vert with 8,000 miles. Absolutely zero problems with the top - or anything else for that matter.
