Default Newbie Suspension Questions

I'm in the process of ordering a 2016 and considering the options available. One nagging question is the replacement cost of MRC shocks. After researching, I've come to the conclusion that there may not be aftermarket replacements. As far as OEM prices, I've seen amounts across the board including $1000 a piece. Could someone straighten me out on this?

Very easy to find OEM in the $325 to $350 range (each). MSRP is $588.70 each. They are covered under the GMEPP Extended Warranty if you purchase one.

Agree, and not only that, the shocks do not wear out very fast at all. Very few have needed to be replaced. Some for defects, but they are covered under warranty.

The shocks aren't bad. The carbon ceramic brake rotors on the Z07 package are another story entirely, whoa nelly . . . .

Have them on my C7 and had them on my C6. Over 115.000 miles on the C6 and no issues with the magnetic shocks. I wouldn't be concerned with the replacement cost. You'll spend much more on tires over the course of ownership

Try searching for" GM 23167235" (front MSRC shock) or "GM 23167236" (rear).

I had the same concern when ordering mine, but I didn't research the replacement cost. Ended up ordering the MRC shocks anyway. My reasoning is that when they do wear out, I can always get Ohlin upgrades if the OEMs turn out to be too expensive.

The magnetic selective ride shocks are worth it.

Get 'em!

I want to thank all of you who took time (and patience) to answer a hopefully soon-to-be 2016 Coupe owner's questions.

Big Time!! I was astounded at the price on those puppies, although I hear if you don't track the car they are pretty much lifetime brakes.
