Default C7 - Dry Sump - fitting into engine block - damaged?

Hey all,
Need some help. I'm not sure if something is damaged, or I will damage it, if I start it now. While I was working on installing a fuse box cover from RPI, I noticed this piece [labeled loose adapter in first pic] had come loose from the engine block. It will go back in, but not firmly. My gut says it appears damaged. I don't know what this piece is specifically, so I can't seem to find anything about it online. I'm going to try to insert images to show what I'm referring to.

It does look like the tabs on the side of the part, which would insert in to the engine valve cover and hold the part firmly in place, have been damaged/broken. I would check with your dealer's parts department and see if you can find a part number and price. then check whether a better deal can be had by shopping online at one of the discount parts houses.

Don't think there's an issue with drivability? I'd hate for that clip to bind or clog something. If it is a significant risk, seems a strange place to have a (surprisingly) flimsy part.

Push it back in and drive to the dealer as Jack said. There should be no issues driving the car until you can replace the part.

Somebody broke the tab on one side when removing it. It's a vent line.

You have to buy the whole line "assembly" As I recall, the cost is ~$100-$125. Can't just buy the fitting.

It'll stay in on its own. Some people add an oversize o-ring to tighten it up. Others use a little high-temp self-vulcanizing silicon tape around the fitting so it fits tighter.

The plastic tab that broke off is floating around in the valve cover. There's a "tray" / "baffle" inside the valve cover. Some will pull the valve cover and go fishing. Others leave it.

That little peice of plastic is not going to hurt anything , hthat is just a PCV hose , the plastic tab is inside the baffling in the valve cover , it is very hard to remove and a lot of others have broken this piece ..... don't loose sleep over it , push it back in , it will stay in place

I would not pull a valve cover for that tiny thing
too much risk of a bigger issue removing all that stuff and breaking seals
