Cigarette Lighter
My 2016 C7 has a whole for a cigarette lighter, but I was not given a cigarette lighter upon delivery. Now I know most use it for charging things but is the cigarette lighter functional and where do you get one?

New cars haven't come with one for a while. Can probably get one at any auto parts store.

A cigarette lighter socket has a retainer to hold the lighter in place until the temperature rises enough for it to release.
The C7 does not have a cigarette lighter.

Then what is that thing in the center console up by the buttons for the radio. When I open it I can stick in the standard "cigarette-lighter to cell phone charger" wire. Are you telling that the "cigarette-lighter" portion is just a lie?

The owners manual describes the center console outlet as a 'Power Outlet'. No mention of the use of a cigarette lighter. Usually if these style ports have a cover over them, such as a flip-up or hinged cover over the 'hole', then they are not intended to be used for cigarette lighters. Additionally, on some cars (can't verify if it applies to Corvette) the power supplied to the port will not support the amount of power required to operate a lighter element. As far as I know there is no ashtray either.
From the manual:
'Use the accessory power outlet to plug in electrical equipment, such as
a cell phone or MP3 player.
There are three accessory power outlets:
In front of the cupholder. Open the door compartment to access.' etc

Cigarette lighter outlets have traditionally been used for accessories, thus your "wire". To support these, they wisely provide outlets compatible with these plugs.
The fact remains that the car has no cigarette lighter.

Since Chevy sells an accessory "smokers package" that include a cigarette lighter, I'm pretty sure that socket will handle a lighter:

(Click on Interior Accessories, and it will be in the middle of the page.)
This is available from most aftermarket parts suppliers.

I'm confused. The "smoker's package" seems to come with a lighter. The one I ordered from Mid America was not a 2016 specific lighter. They said it's for up to a 2013. I figured I'd try it because the socket looks about the same. I don't think it's the proper one because it hits slightly when closing the "door" so it appears to be just a little bit to long. The door closes but it hits a little.

Just one more thing for them to chg to make NEW so c6 guys cant sell to a c7 guy.
I dont smoke at all here but was down at a big dealer ship with my car about a week back they had a ton of aftermarket stuff for the c7. Had to drive about 75 miles one way to get the car fixed to 2 dealerships in town & the next town over from me was not a vette full serive dealer didnt know how to fix it for me. The one I went to from the time I went in from the time I left was just a good hour and had it fixed my OBD II port works now.. Robert

I'm surprised that there are people that have corvettes that smoke.Hard to afford both.
I had read that if your A smoker you'll likely spend A million in your lifetime.
And yes the receprical is for electronics not A lighter.
